Exclamation How To: (Video) Replace / upgrade your Intercooler pump, with Bosch part numbers.

In this video, I'll cover the simple procedure of changing your intercooler pump.

This is a common problem:

Driving fine, and after some hard pulls up to redline, the engine loses power.
9 times out of 10, your intercooler pump is the culprit.

Try turning off the engine, waiting 15 seconds, and turning it back on.
If this "solves" the problem for a few minutes, then you need to follow this simple guide.
----------------------------------

Tools required:

*Coolant, MB 325.0 spec: BQ 1 03 004
*Bosch Intercooler PUMP: 0392 022 010
*10mm socket
*Jack and stand
* 2x $10 Hose clamp tools (shown in video)
*Flat head screwdriver

----------------------------------

WATCH THIS VIDEO

-Jack up the car and set it on a stand

-Unplug pump electrical connection plug on the rear of the pump.

-Undo the pump fastener, the single 10mm head bolt. The pump will now hang down, with only the hoses attaching it to the car.

>The goal is to clamp the hoses as close to the pump as possible. You'll lose virtually no coolant. <

-Then simply remove the hose clamps with a flat head, and pull of the lines.

-Install pump in reverse order.

(If you did not clamp hoses, or if you opened the drain valve on the radiator to flush and refil with new coolant, fill the expansion tank full, and run car with cap off and heater on high for 10 mins. Keep refilling coolant, and then let things cool down and check the level.)

Bleed process:

Hope this helps!

Do you need to change the electrical connector on the bosch or is it 100% plug and play?

The Bosch unit is plug and play. No modifications needed.

It's almost scary to know the pump wasn't working at some point, temps were reaching coolant temps! The old pump that stopped working was a Bosch 0 392 220 003 unit. 010 was installed and working good thus far.

Yessir, I just picked it up last week. Amazing car with little complications here and there that need addressing. Feels good to be back

Just ordered one off ebay, the pump is so inexpensive not even worth checking if my old one still works.

Did this last night.

Farly simple, but there was no way for the "clamps" in the video to work (not nearly enough room) but I managed with two needle-nose vice grips covered in 1/4" fuel hose.

Question is: My old 003 pump had an air line / vacuum line attached and the new 010 pump had a place to put it but it was just a stud. Anybody know what that air line was for? Looks like there is no air line on the old pump in Nidaynazo's video. PS: Mine is '05

There is no need to do so. In the other video he showed the flows and its pretty clear that the system burps itself. Now that only applies to the 55K motors and not the TT 12 motors.

The Bosch is a nice quick flix but if you want a much better flowing pump and more durable,, then go with the Mezzire WP 136. Does take a cutom bracket to make fit but not to hard of a job and worth the flow. IMO

Did you replace yours with the Mezzire WP 136? I was looking for the EWP-80 or Johnson CM90 for much better throughput and therefore more cold air to replace my stock one.

The formula is for every 10 Degree Celsius lower air intake temperature, 1% more power.

You push the pedal and you think you're sitting on a tracktor. No more supercharger power. That's the symptom. Reason: water temp of the low temperature circuit is 100 degrees Celsius hot (for Americans, it's boiling temp). As soon as it's goes down again you have your mo pressure power back.

Does the car jerk too? As if it's choked up?

If it does that and the gas gauge is within your reserve then the feeder bowl might be leaking or one of the fuel pumps sucking from the feeder bowl is not working right.

It does it regardless of how much fuel is in it. It jerks when i gun it or when the car is on low rpms. And it's also hesitates and jerks more when the car is still cold.

V12tt

Is this the same pump that will work on the V12TT?

Good info. Easy way to check for a bad pump is that after the car gets to operating temp, the intercooler will not be warm to the touch.
