(COOLANT! VISIT WORKSHOP!) Any help?
About a week ago I went to visit my future parents in law that live about 30min drive away from me. When I was coming back home that night my fan went on and stayed on for a very long time (it was 20F outside) The car was not overheating so I kept driving. The fan was now on for about 5 straight minutes and I decided to pull over. I pulled over shut the car off and the fan went off. When I restarted the car the Fan came back on and about 5 minutes into the drive it shut off and stayed off for the entire 15 minutes of the drive that was left to get home. Since last week I have not started the car or drove it because of snow on the roads here in Chicago. Today I decided to start it up and let it run a bit after about 5 min of idle a msg showed up (COOLANT! VISIT WORKSHOP!) and the fan kicked back on even tho the car was not on for the entire week and didn't even get a chance to warm up. I shut the car off and went on my way to a birthday party in our other car.
In the next week or two I'm taking the car in to do a IC PUMP, Rear Tank, Heat Exchanger and also Downpipes to SPEEDRIVEN. Before I ask Speedriven to look into the problem can anyone here help me on what this could be? I have searched and read a few threads that it could be a bad wire but who knows. I rather fix the problem myself if I can.
Any ideas or maybe someone had this issue before? I will check tomorrow to see if I'm loosing any coolant but I'm 90% sure I'm not since you can smell it right away once you start loosing it.
Thanks
KAMIL

I will check my coolant level today when I get home, I guess that is the first thing I should have done. I will also do a pressure test tomorrow since I have to get the pressure guage to do it.
Thanks

Ok, no coolant in the tank. Before this happened I remember driving down the highway and hitting something under the car.Something on the road it was a pretty loud bang and I looked outside and leaned down to look under car but everything was fine. Going to Mercedes to pick up some coolant to see if it leaks under car when I fill it.

Check also engine oil for milky color. I hope not, but it doesn't hurt to lookie lookie just to be sure.
And you don't have to buy coolant from dealer. Your local napa/ pep boys/ etc. store has zerex g-05 for mercedes Benz. Cheaper and identical to the dealer coolant.
