1/2 Mile Shootout In Chicago my Videos and Results
Hey Guys,
First I wanna say that this has been the best event I have ever been to in Chicagoland area. It was well organized and just great to attend as a driver or spectator.
Current Mods on my car are:
Catless Downpipes with no mufflers and stock mid section.
Speedriven ECU and TCU tune
Speedriven Heat Exchanger
Speedriven Rear Tank
Speedriven IC Pump
100 octane and full tank of ice for each pass.
265/40/18 ET STREETS with 27lbs of pressure.
Kept car in S and D at all times on lowest setting.
I did 6 passes and worst pass was 150MPH best being 152.7MPH.
The fastest my car went was 152.7MPH in the 1/2 mile with spinning a bit in the 60ft mark as you can tell from the video. Not sure if this is fast or not but ZR1 with tire and exhaust was going right around my time. I bet with 65 turbos I would hit 155+MPH. I will be coming back to the event next year with bigger turbos and intercoolers.
Here are the videos
Best Pass at 152.7MPH against an EVO (inside Vid)

Same Pass outside VId

Pass against a N/A TA that was cammed out and who knows what else (guy was a total D bag when I asked him what his car had done)

Pass Against a Turbo Trans AM (I dead hooked on this pass but it was my first run and I hit the brakes before the 1/2 mile marker)

More videos and photos coming when I get more.

Im amazed as well, i got a chance to run a 2007 M5 tht was completely gutted and was at 3600lbs plus work done to the car. He went 150 that race and I went 151 at almost 1000lbs more

Nice runs...When I first heard about it the event I only pictured it being way too hot but it sounds like the weather worked out and you were covered with a trunk tank with ice. The drag radials probably helped with slightly better gearing. I thought of doing a 1.5 mile event in Maine (close to an 8hr drive)but there were alot of restrictions and we would be speed limited.

there are many variables, but generally it actually works best with really powerful cars. what spinning in the lower gears does is it allows you to arrive at the end of each of those gears a little closer to the start line thus giving you more time and distance in the 3-4 gears which results in higher terminal speed. think of shortshifting without falling out of the powerband.

Agreed. The time to cover the distance will increase but the trap speed will also increase. Just like my first time out at the track with my supra. Ran a 14.1 quarter at 114mph.

ah... your case is different. it is a supra. even the 1000 hp dyno queens run 11.9 ... at like 150 mph
