cl55 power trunk help

I love the power trunk but
I would like to know if there is a way to override or turn off the time out to auto close?
It always seems to hit me in the back when I least expect it

There is no "Auto Close".

What is happening is the trunk struts are worn and need replacement.

The struts are no longer able to hold the trunk up for a prolonged period of time.

You need:

A2157500336 (Left)
A2157500436 (Right)

Well said. Lol. Had same problem. Took me 2 years to figure that out. Took it to the dealer and they could not fix the issue with the motor not working right. Struts wouldn't hold and lid would fall down before time and motor still ran for a second or two. Since new struts no issues.
Buy them they are very easy to replace. Took less then 5 minutes.

I had the same problem and it was the struts.

The weak opening is usually an issue of not enough hydraulic fluid in the pump reservoir. After many years the o-rings start to shrink/crack/leak and fluid is lost.

The pump/reservoir is located in a compartment under the battery. Remove the battery, pull the pump/reservoir out. Remove the reservoir cover (simple metal clamp holds it on) and fill up to the fill line.

Replace and cycle open/close several times.

Both these issues are common problems after 7-8 years of use.

When I pulled pump out very little fluid in cup.
I assume the fill line is the "+" symbol.
Given that the trunk is open and fluid is in the lines this would give room for the fluid to return to cup when closed.
It works better so i hope the shocks will help
thanks

Its funny how we where talking about this and today my pump stopped working.I had a problem about a year ago water got in that area because the drain plug was clogged the pump stopped working at that time as it was submerged but after it dried was working but was a bit louder. Now its so quiet you cant even hear it . LOL i think its done but i will pull it out this week to see what can be done. Also trunk is very hard to open as the system is not assisting.and right side sticks up a bit. The hinge needs to be pressed down manually

Yes, that is correct. The fill line is lower than full so when the trunk is closed the reservoir has room for the fluid pushed back in due to the ram being retracted.

Are there any after mkt options, or is $115 a side the best I can do?

Also, what are the best options for Bluetooth and AT&T in my new to me 2003 CL55? The Mercedes site does not show their puck working with AT&T, and the dealer is talking about a partial replacement of some parts rather than just a slide in puck like my 2006 S65 has.

There are after market vendors that make the struts for less. Parts.com has the OE units for ~$70 each.

If you have the factory telephone system, there is a puck that works. The puck is no longer made but you can find them second hand if you look.

The puck docks in the center console cradle. It is not cell provider dependent.

Fixed

Trunk quit opening..
Could open with key and lift up
Could use power close worked fine...
removed rear trim panel to inspect
Found vac diaphragm tabs broke off for vac trunk lock release dash pod.
if that does not release trunk can not work
Was able to repair dash pod with epoxy and all works ok now

dont realize how much we use this option

Just curious because mine is now acting up. For the guys with this problem I'm assuming the trunk just doesn't unlatch at all right?

Mine will unlatch and start to open, buy it acts like the pump is too weak. If I give it a little help to get started going up with my hand it will open on its own. Fluid is fine and trunk struts are not very old. I'm trying to figure out if my pump is going bad or what.
