Can someone please tell me where's the Transmission Oil Cooler is located on the CL65? I've looked on EPC and it didn't help.

I believe it's behind the front grille/bumper assembly, behind the heat exchanger.

That diagram doesn't help. There are around six heat exhangers up front, so it must be sandwiched in there out of sight.

As a result, I've had to settle for diluting the tranny fluid with clean fluid, then draining after driving on it a while. Not the best way to clean out the torque converter, but it'll have to do.

That's a lot to be packed in such a small area.

I've been wrong before, but isn't that the secondary engine WATER radiator?

I guess this is about a W215 rather than a W216, right?

In which case, isn't the transmission cooler built into the primary engine water radiator? Two pipes going into the right hand side header tank?

Yes, i think the one you mentioned for W216,

the part # for the one i pictured is "220 500 06 00", shardul said it's Engine oil,

if there is no additional trans. cooler, Radiator side room will be the trans. cooler....!!

I've been told that with the CL65, they both have the same motor.

Actually, looking at that again, it looks like it might be the engine oil cooler. If it was the engine water cooler, the pipes would connect to the main top and bottom radiator hoses, but they don't. They look like they hook up where the engine oil cooler hoses on my car go - next to the oil pump at the bottom front left of the engine. Sounds confusing, so the answer is probably to follow the pipes back to where they go.

It's nice to see I'm not the only one that found this puzzling.

That's what I thought - those two ports on the right. That's definitely what mine has, and I'd be very surprised if the CL65 was different.

Bigger engine oil coolers are needed when you run higher revs, but that doesn't apply here. The 65 motor will generate more heat in both the engine rad and the IC HE. The latter is larger on the 65, which will tend to block air flow through the main rad, so those effects increase the load on the rad. This makes the aux rad more important, and less likely to be used for oil cooling.

Well, that's my reasoning....

Looking at my car right now and I can see that is an additional coolant radiator.

Tranny cooler is on right side. Its going into the radiator. You should be able to loosen it from the bottom no problem.

Where were you a few days ago?

Any chance you can upload an image or diagram?

Thanks. I've already service my transmission, but it will be nice to have it posted on here for my next service or for the next guy.
