New track times

10.740 @ 128.3

I'll try to get video up later this week, but it may be next week since I have to travel out of state.

Only bad part of the new PB was it occurred in the final round of racing and I red lit by -.01 so lost the final round. Even though I ran a 10.7401 on a 10.73 dial, the other racer cut a .04 light and ran a 12.360 on a 12.35 dial. That is a tough run to beat.

Still, I took home a second place trophy and a 10.740 time slip. Not a bad weekend.

Your worst nightmare...
Those are excellent times!!!

I may head to the track with my car this week. Looking to see what she does stock and then let the mods begin.

By the way, I see you have Muffler delete, how does the car sound? Isn't it too loud?

Thanks,

Thanks guys.

V12 - Not loud in the car at all but behind it on startup or WOT it makes some noise. No drone on the highway either. Literally sounds like stock only louder. Not obnoxious, just enough to barely hear the exhaust while driving if the stereo is off or at a very low volume.

No resonators on the 65's so only thing quieting it is the turbos and cats. If I were planning a cat delete I think I'd keep the stock mufflers though as it would probably be too loud for me.

Matt,

Hey congratulations!!! What was the weather like? I'm guessing you got some race gas in there and the off road tubes fed it some air. Impressive time and trap regardless. I guess your tune certainly gets the job done.

Thanks for the response. I will just cut the cat and see where it goes. Congrats again with the impressive run!

Actually I have no idea how close my tune is because of issues with tuning schedule. My last tune was extremely rich and didn't get this tune until Sunday night. I was running my CAI and VP MS109 fuel for the best passes. DA was actually good for the PB run at about 40'. Actual track elevation is 75'. Wish I would have had the new tune earlier as I was running ther old tune when the DA was -800'. Might have achieved my goal which was 10.724......You know why right Godspeed????

Damn that tank is flying. Congrats on second place and the PB. Could you post up a pic of the screen you use on the CAI?

Off topic, but yes downpipes will give you all the sound you need especially on cold starts. No real drown as already mentioned. At that point I doubt your feel the need to yank out the mufflers, but I could be wrong.

Matt, some really nice MPH were you getting some decent 60 ft times? I'm sure there were a lot of surprised faces once again at the track.

My best 60' was a 1.60. Never did break in to the 1.5's like I wanted to do.

Lots of shocked people at the track again. One of these big ol girls that is wisper quiet compared to the other 10 second cars really takes people by suprise. Funny how many insanely loud lightweght cars yank the fronts off the ground only to run mid 11's. So much fun....

I'm sure a few of those guys hurt their foot trying to shove the throttle though the floor as I was blowing past them.

Even the tech guy who fought with me about running so fast & was literally screaming in my face that he was going to ban me until I came back with a cage if I made a single pass quicker than 11.5 last July came by my pit Monday night telling me how he overheard people talking about my car more than anything else running all summer.

Just hurts my feelings to hear that kind of stuff, NOT.

Thanks. I suspect it's much finer than the screen in the stock intake tubes.

Nope, mine is actually more open than that, but I folded it in 1/2 so it is double layered and has about the same effective opening size you have. Probably sucked a few skeeters through the turbos but the goal was to keep out any rocks another car may have had stuck to the tires.

Car is still in nthe trailer and I cant open the hood easily, but I hope to pull it out tomorrow at lunch & I'll get you a pic. I still don't even have a pic on my PB time slip that is still in the center console.....

Oh and mine did not have any screen in the stock in take tubes at all, just the paper filters seperating the dirty air for my precious V-12. Are you saying those screens came stock in your car's intake tubes???

Does your stock intake tubes have the same screens shown in my photo?

Those are some awesome times there Matt. Congrats. If I'm not mistaken isn't that now the record for stock turbo CL65?

NEVER MIND I just saw Godspeed was at 10.72 with stock turbos. Awesome times either way. Can't wait to get my car tuned this coming next week and back to the track. I might talk to Marcin about some cold air intakes.

Two best time slips out of 20 passes Labor Day weekend posted below. Just needed to get that 60' down to a 1.5x to have made my goal.

New track times-image_zpsc5b6ae68.jpg

Crazy busy lately and finally unloaded the car from Labor Day races yesterday. Went 2 weeks without driving it and all I can say is I never want to do that again! Probably helps the excitement that it is still on VP109 and drag radials that first time driving it in 2 weeks.

Those are some strong passes!!! considering you have stock intercoolers and are without a trunk tank. You only proved our simple setups give pretty good results.

A lot has to do with proper cool down technique. Take off engine covers, fans on top of motor & in front of car. I/C pump running all day non stop so also keeping battery charger on the car when in pits. Keep car shut off and hood open but I/C pump running in staging lanes, etc.
