Custom Exhaust! Need Your Thoughts!!

Hey guys,
So for my CL55 i wanted to do some custom work for the exhaust. I want it loud, really loud.
I have a guy that's is well-known for his exhaust work and he says to remove my cats and my res, but keep my stock mufflers.
He says to do a full stainless steal system with an x-pipe. Sounds great and all, but im not looking to spend $2000 on just exhaust.
On a scale 1-10 of how loud i want it to be, i want it at a solid 8 or 9.
Yes, Loud!! What do you guys think is a good idea?! Please share!

As someone who is familiar with exhaust systems, keeping the stock system but taking out the cats will indeed make it loud, but not good. Loud is fine but you want it to sound deep and powerful, meaning you want an exhaust that is designed to sound good, too.

You don't have to spend $2000 but you can at least get an axle-back system, or just the mufflers to deepen the sound.

I was thinking of an axle-back system. But many people have told me that AMG mufflers are great! But i guess getting something with more performance will be better. Thanks!

I have no cats and mufflers and I think it sounds great. Very loud on start up and accelerating but these motor runs so sweet at cruise that it isnt very loud. You will be heard though when starting up and pulling into parking lots.

I know phone videos and GoPros don't do the volume of an exhaust justice. But I've seen a lot on Youtube that sound great. Keeping stock mufflers and removing secondary cats, possibly primary cats as well will give you some nice sounds.

Myself, I plan on changing the piping out to 3" or just doing Exhaust cutouts. And TwinTurboTim. The 55k definitely sounds different from the 65TT V12.

Although I know they sound beast with cutouts listening to a member who lives in the DC Metro.

Just removed my resonators. Sounds better than stock but it was hard not to notice the loss in power. Secondary cats are being removed next week and i am changing the entire mid section to 3" piping. From the primary cats to mufflers.

Question about Exhaust

Hey Guys i have a couple questions. I have removed my resonator and now i want to replace the secondary cats with an x-pipe. My questions are:

Will my check engine light turn on?
Will it pass smog?

These questions might seem a bit amateur but i want to take the entire build safe!

Best Aftermarket Mufflers for 55K?

If anyone is curious on how their 55k will sound with no resonator, no secondary cats, and no muffler...
The answer is, LOUD! The drone is beyond anything i have ever felt in the cockpit.
Anyone know a good aftermarket muffler that will give me some sort of performance and a nice clean sound?
Magnaflow maybe?

Video for anyone on the fence.

Was on the way to grab some food and figured I'd take a video. Resonators and Secondary Cats are deleted. Both are WOT pulls. 2nd is around a long sweeping curve. Windows all the way down. Please Ignore ABC light, I am getting it read tomorrow.
