CL65 1/2 Mile Event 159.34 MPH in 17.82 Seconds
This weekend I attended the SlipStream 1/2 mile Invitational. Despite a little bit of elevation, in the mountains of PA, I thought my car ran really strong. Since these events are held on airport runways, traction is far from good. The rough surface of blacktop is nothing like a seasoned drag strip. With street tires I spun, and let off 3 times before finally getting traction(first 2 passes). Every time the car would build a little boost the tires would break loose. The drag radials helped with a soft launch, I was able to keep it to a minimum of 1 spin from about 30-45 MPH, before gaining traction. I think it would have been into the low 160s with drag strip traction down low. All said and done, it was a good time and it was nice to see some other MBs along with some other real fast cars. I'll try to track down a few links of the event, since there were a lot of people with cameras.
Here are a few pics:
1. My CL65 mostly stock in appearance with 18" Knockoffs & Mickey Thompson ET Streets
2. A small line up heading to the start on the far side of the runway.
3. Everything carefully and neatly placed to return home the night before Easter
4. My time slips for the day.

Nice runs! Wish I could run a long pass like you have gotten to do. Hitting 129+ in the 1/4 sure shows you are making a lot more power than on your old 1/4 mile time runs even though the ET is slower from lack of traction. How do these times compare to your 1 mile event passes, or did they not have 1/4 and 1/2 mile timers in that event?
Looks like your mods are paying off. Look forward to seeing more of your racing results!

Congrats.
Do you have some MPH from the other fast cars to compare?
For example there was a highly modded SL55 (cnterline) who did 156 MPH.
As I always said - give the 65 enough room to run, then it will show its full potential.

Thanks Matt, yes the car was trapping decent, I think it can benefit from better air too since MPH was down for other cars too. Unfortunately, I don't have any comparison to the mile since they only clocked speed at the 1 and 1.5 mile mark. When I ran the mile I was following suit with the others with a soft launch since there was enough distance to get up to speed. As a result I wasn't getting to full throttle until over 80. At the half mile event you don't have enough distance to launch that soft and still get up to speed, every foot counts. I think if I were to launch with drag radials at the mile I may have picked up a little MPH, by getting to a higher speed sooner. I just don't know how drag radials are rated for speeds over 185 MPH for more than a 1/4. I had no issues with them for the half, but it was a shorter pass at a lower speed. I'm hoping to put life on hold for a day and better my 1/4 mile time. I'll let you know when it happens.
Thanks
Congrats.

I'll have to track down some results. There were a few GTRs I think that were in the 180s and one the day before that hit 197. There was a Viper just testing that is a 6.xx second car and has run 215MPH in the 1/4 mile. Watching cars launch you couldn't see their speed, but you could tell they were moving. You are correct the 65s do need a little room, but with limited traction the half got chewed up quick.

Thank You, big car, but Bigger power than most makes it pretty competitive (except at these type of events).
Thank you, it does surprise people.
Thanks Shardul

Here is a list of everyones Dig runs; we let people do roll races for fun if they wanted, but as we didnt set up our custom roll race equipment, we didnt count them towards actual results.
Seems like everyone had a great time, Im already excited for July

Hey thanks, the mods are as follows:
Eurocharged ECU/TCU
Supplemental HE
Front mount Meziere pump
6 gallon Trunk tank w/ Rule2000
Cold Air tubing directly to turbos
Catless downpipes to stock rear mufflers
Quaife LSD
Widened stock wheels for normal driving - 305/30/19s
Matched Knock-offs with Mickey Thompson ET streets 265/40/18
It still has stock turbos, and stock intercoolers. I run the same tune on the street or at events, where I run MS109 and use ice in the trunk tank. I think I am pretty maxed out with power without changing to E85 or upgrading turbos and tranny.
