Tariff update:

Might only be 12.5% per Birds Garage!

Nice.

We're getting close....

Also, I've used Motul Gear 300 75w-90 for the Quaife unit I've had in my CL55 for a few years. Be very sure to use hypoid gear oil, as non-hypoid additives cause issues with gear-driven limited slip differentials. IIRC, I removed one Axle shaft, which allowed me to remove the assembly for Quaife fitment. When you reinstall the drive shaft, MAKE SURE TO LOCTITE THE BOLTS HOLDING IT ON! Mine kept loosening till I did that.

yes I received a text from DHL telling what my import duty was as well as when it would be delivered… import duty needs to be paid before they will deliver…

I wouldn't worry about yours not shipping yet, seems like they're pretty busy. Maybe they bulk ship different shipments to different regions on specific dates?

Also BZ,
not sure! He asked me what my import cost was, and mentioned he was trying different options to achieve different import prices. I'm not bothered by it, this unit plus import was still cheaper than the one I bought a few years ago, lol. Impressive given inflation over the time period.

So for those of you that have installed them in your 215, what's your overall impression? I've had one for a number of years, and love it.

Did Birds make a few extras for stock or did anyone back out? I'd consider having a backup for the future.

I got that impression that they made ten units. You have to contact quaife for more info.

My unit still waits on garage floor for install. I must wait that they stop salting the roads before drive season.

DId you use shaft mod kits to your unit? I just cant understand what is the purpose of the circlips. Are they somekind of back up if the bolts gets loose?

on my CL55 (not yet installed this new one on my CL65), I didn't use any circlips or additional kit pieces aside from either a new bearing or bearing race on either one or both sides. It was very simple. One wheelshaft came off from the differential, wheelshaft attachment point/hub came out, slid the differential assembly to the left with the additional space and removed assembly. Removed ring gear, attached it to new quaife diff (most difficult part IMO, had to find a way to hold everything still to torque ring gear attachment bolts on), put either a new bearing center or race in (I forget which, one is easy to remove), then reverse the removal procedure. No runout (or whatever it's called) adjustment needed, checked the ring gear mesh point and it was centered exactly.
