What is a CL63?

Does anyone know what a CL63 is? I have found a "Renntech" CL63 for sale, but know very little about it. It seems to have lots of Renntech goodies on it, but its a 2001 CL 600. The dealer does not know a lot about it either. Anyone hear of this thing?

2003 CL55 AMG
The CL63 was an AMG special of the 2001 - 2002 body. I'll see if I can find some info on it as it appears all the CL specials AMG lists now is the CL65.

Adam thanks a lot. Do you know if it was a larger displacement V12? It is a V12 I do know that.

Yes you are correct. The car is so rare that I contacted Renntech and they knew which car it was. They gave me the VIN #!!!

here is their reply:

========================================
it has a 6.3 litter displacement for original factory 5.8 L
With 445 HP & 470 Lbs-Ft Torque ( hand built motor)
Muffler
Resonator
Brakes front
Rear
Wheels
Transmission cooler
Oil cooler
Reinforced transmission upgrade ( to handle the higher torque)
ALL Renntech manufactured parts.
========================================
Now I have the tough task of assigning a value to this car. What kills its value is basically the fact that the '03 and newer AMG has more power, is newer, and has a factory warranty. So it cannot be worth MORE than the '03. Although it is a rare beast and all those upgrades were mighty expensive.

I wonder if there are any advantages due to the fact that it is naturally aspirated and still manages 445 HP.

They don't know. And I don't know. We are still trying to figure that out.
