Today's the day...
October 10, 2013 is the production start date for my CLA 45 AMG. I am remarkably excited, but I wish there was some way to actively check progress. I think that'd be pretty cool.
What does the audience think? Or is there a way to check on the building status?

Not sure about the building progress but I've heard that there's a website where once the car is built you can track the shipping. Hopefully someone with knowledge of this website will chime in.

My CLA 45 AMG has been built and is currently on the ship over to Canada.
When my dealer gave me the VIN, I still was not able to track the vehicle on the online shipping website. I discovered from the dealer that Mercedes is purposely 'hiding' all information, even from dealers until November 1 when the vehicle launches and will be sent to dealerships.....very sneaky

lol not to offend you or pick on you but how funny we cry about every new cars' ever-increasing weight but yet we are asking for auto folding mirrors, 30-way power adj seats, heat/cool seats, folding rear seats, 50 airbags, auto trunk, rear cameras, parking sensors, auto this auto that...

I don't think so. They should IMO, but I only think they have the oops type of folding. Like you hit something and they'll fold in without breaking. Or you can manually get out and push them in on both sides if you're concerned about someone clipping them.
