Spectacular bike!!
That's one spectacular bike for sale. I really like the mods as well. Very tasteful, well thought out modifications. Nothing radical, and each mod is from the very best of aftermarket companies. Kudos for your choices!
Due to my motorcycle accident in 1998, I haven't ridden since then, but I did ride ridden 748s (I was the service manager at a Kawasaki, Suzuki, BMW, Ducati, KTM dealership, and I had a 92 851 as well) Personally, I liked the 748 better than the 916's as it revved much quicker, and turned faster as well (Although the weight of the two bikes were near identical, the smaller engine internals of the 748 produce less turn resisting gyroscopic effect). I imagine that the same logic applies to the current 749/999 series...
For those not all that familiar with Ducati's line-up, note that Akara1's selling a 749R, which has the top shelf Ohlins suspension, Marchesini wheels and carbon fiber bodywork. I know that it has the testaretta ("small head"?) engine, but I can't recall if that;s exclusive to the R series...
Anyway, that's one awesome motorcycle, and it's ironic that now that I'm finally in a position to be able to afford just about any bike, I can no longer ride (Believe me when I say it kills me!)
Best regards,
Matt
p.s.) Whatever happened with Ducati's street going Desmodieci?

Thanks for the compliments Matt. In 05, they changed from the carbon bodywork to a new type of composite that is supposed to be both lighter and stronger than cf. The motor in the R is exclusive to the R. While all superbikes now have the testastretta motor, the R has a slightly larger bore, bringing it to 749cc's (The current 749 and 749S still have a 748cc motor). Also, the R has the new valve collett system, so the valve adjustment intervals are twice as long as all the other models. It truly is an amazing bike.
