I bought a brand new chrome style smart key online, like the ones u find on the new mercedes thinking I could swap in my old key, but being a newb I realized that the insides of my old key will not fit the new one.

Therefore I am selling the key to anyone who needs it for whatever reason.

Uhhh . . . but the key has to be coded with your VIN from MB. It is useless.

I think you can go to the dealership and have them code it for you.

I know my dealership won't do coding...

but that's because there is no need usually. You are not supposed to be able to get the key without proving a VIN and proof of ownership.

I am looking for a second key but don't want to pay price at local dealer. Has the "chrome key" you have ever been programmed? If so, it can't be changed according to dealer.
If it is truly a new key, I am interested.

No, you can not get a hold of an uncoded key. Also, the dealer can not program a key, even if you somehow got a hold of an uncoded one.

I bought a new chrome key fob from my dealer for $80.82, no discounts or anything.
