How much on maintenance and repair?

How much on maintenance and repair?
I recently purchased CLE 300 and signed up for maintenance & repair and protection at the dealership. It’s my first car so wasn’t sure of what to expect. My friend was telling me to cancel because I overpaid but did I actually overpay?
Please excuse me for being ignorant. Please be patient with me![Smilie](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
Vehicle price: $60K
Dent protection: $699
MB prepaid maintenance: $4300
MB Tire and wheel: $4442
MB Extended Ltd Warranty: $5510
Windshield protection 5 years: $1553
Appearance protection 3 years: $699
Theft protection No ID: $669
I live in California if that matters.
My friend says I won’t have much M&R spend in the first 2-3 years and that I should not pay $17,872 for all of these. Is this true? Sorry.. I just have no sense of what it would cost to maintain this car.
If this is true, is this possible to cancel with the MB dealership?
Thank you in advance!

I mean, you got hosed, for sure. You paid for a lot of garbage. Leased or financed? MB prepaid maintenance is almost always more cost effective if you do the following:
1. Plan to have the dealer service the vehicle
2. follow the service instructions to the T (aka replace wiper blades at service X and cabin filter at Service Y)
You can always do oil changes at an independent shop for cheaper, so it really depends on your preference. (Also, there is a price per year so did you get 4 or 5 years or maintenance? Because $4,300 is certainly more than it should cost for a 3 year program.)
But all that other crap is a dealer seeing/hoping you "fall for" all the extra expenses.

These supplemental protection packages are pure profit for dealerships. If you ever manage to get $18K of value from them, you would need to be the unluckiest car owner on the planet. Put the $18K in a high yield savings account paying 5%, and cover your own mishaps.

ugh… i had no idea… some of these are not cancellable according to the contract because it’s with a 3rd party 😞

I don’t want to be that guy but you got absolutely ripped man. How did you blindly accept 18k worth of pointless add ons on a 60k car. Really hope you can cancel these because you won’t see a cent of this back when you sell this thing. Please drop the name of the dealer.

Dealership finance guys are a sleazy bunch. One tried to tell me I had to buy a life insurance package to cover the payments in the event I died. He rescinded when I stood up and started to walk out. Another tried to slip the odometer disclosure past me revealing the new car I was buying had 237 miles on it. They all try to sell the protection packages, and as soon as you say OK to one, the onslaught begins. Simply because they've got the documents that have approved your credit doesn't make them your friend. Say no to everything and resist the pressure sales tactics. It's all throwing money away, and spreading $18K out over 72 interest laden payments doesn't make it a better deal.

Holy chit wow!
I'll say that for those prices I'd be slashing my own tires, cracking my own windshield and so on to make SURE they kept their end of the 'deal'.
Damn man, just D.....A......M.....N!
