A vehicles carrier cargo ship departs Bremerhaven...
I used a "Sail Distance calculator" on the web and and average speed of 15kts and then added some time to account for how long it takes to get up to speed and slow down:
- Brem. to Southhamp. App = 1d9h; Real Time est = 2d
- Other stops = 2d
- Est. Cargo exchanges = 2d
- Southhamp to Baltimore. App=8d16h; Real time est = 10d (could be higher to account for bad weather, etc.)
- Off-load in Balt. = 1d
- Customs est. = 1d; (could be higher)
- Truck to dealer = 1d
I get the call =1d (Car carriers can arrive at night)
TOTAL ESTIMATED TIME FROM CAR LOADED ON BOAT TO ME = 20d, say 3 wks.
Now estimated time from Build-date to me is tougher because I don't know all of the delivery factors. Like: how long from build-complete to inspect, prep the car for shipping and get car on train to Bremer? And, the how long does the car sit on the dock awaiting lading? I have no idea but it looks like this is where the big delays are piling up.
Based on all my past delivery dates my conclusions are that order-to-build is pretty constant at around 8 wks, Build-to-Ship, up from 1.4 wks to 5.4 wks (The big delay!), ship-to-dealer is about 2.8wks.
So I estimate 16.2 wks total order-to-delivery.

Il be honest thought and say there is no pattern. My car was built March 20th, 2024. I am STILL waiting for delivery of the car on July 1 2024...
That said it is coming from South Africa and not Germany.
Ive been told that car has the status:" Pending Factory Outage (3). " The was the last time it was checked a few weeks ago. Havnt requested an update recently since CDK is down.
If any of you have heard of the Pending Factory outage status and have some info, would be eager to hear.
None the less, hope the wait is shorter than we think for all of us.

I tracked my first car's actual shipping which was 16 days. I was being conservative with my estimate of 20 days because I added another stop along the way.
All I know is that my car was built on May, 24 and I haven't heard about it being loaded onto a boat yet. Maybe they're waiting to fill some quota. I do hope to hear good news soon!
Seems that the shipping is now somehow 3 weeks

Could not agree with you more.... I had a similar experience in 2019, Ordered Car in March 2018, car was build on June 20, 2018 and it was only delivered on Dec 1, 2018.
I kind of expected this delay like you mention without any good reason. THe worst is, the dealers seem to know as little as we do. They dont know what some of those codes mean or the hold ups are as well.
The wait is tough as Im sure you know. Lets hope it end soon!

I guess MB doesn't feel that an app like this is necessary because they always build and ship their cars on a rigorous schedule and in the most timely manner.
