Check Engine Light on
This AM, I backed the car to the drive way, wash the rims, etc.
I restarted, engine light on, drove about 2 miles and it was still on. Restated a couple of times, same problem..
Today is Sat. and the service bay is closed.
Is there any way to check what the engine light icon means in terms of problems? (I'm at 4186 miles).
Any suggestions other than visiting the service bay.
Thanks, LTBM

Sunday, I booted the car, let it idle for about 5 min., left the driveway and drove about 2 miles.
In the service window display, I notice that the "Engine Oil Level Check" was not responding (searching), it did not show levels, (Tire PSI was reading ok, so was Temperature levels)
Just as I'm about to enter my driveway, the oil level check responded and magically the yellow engine light disappeared.
I will still take it to the service bay tomorrow, but I'm not happy with engine lights warnings.
My hope that the electronics will settle and not become a periodic event thru the life of this AMG.
I'm becoming disenchanted with all the electronic gizmos, bells and whistles, technology that I cannot learn and maintain to a reasonable DYS level.

2024 CLE AMG53, 2019 VW Tiguan SEL
Early AM today I took my CLE 53AMG to my local MB dealer and explained what had transpired.
They provided a "campaign" software update of late Jan. 2025..
Unfortunately, the data history did not show the "engine light" event in the data recorder. The software/mechanic was surprised to a degree.
They are keeping the car for 2/3 days with communication with state-side MB, he said they have a way of extracting the event.
I provided written details of the events, by dates etc., even as the problem was no longer present when I arrived to the service bay.
Many modules on the 53, (I forgot how many) but I'm concerned with the long term possibilities of disasters with all this software.
I'm going to think this trough and sleep on it. I need to reevaluate as to why I purchase this beauty.
Like a beautiful woman, careful what you ask for, lol.

Today, (Friday) I visited the service bay, to see how my 53 was coming along. I spoke to the mechanic (25 years at MB) for about 15 min..
His software knowledge is deep, has all the history, procedures and resources/connections at his disposal.
My software issue has been elevated to MB engineering who handles new product (CLE AMG53) MBUX software..
Not sure how long before the problem is solved. But this is a large global co. and it becomes a snail pace for answers/results with my coupe on hold.
I considered bring it home today until a solution is found, but the engine light problems reappeared at start-up.
As I said in my introduction follow-up post, the software in the coupe may potentially be a problem throughout the life of my ownership, I hope I'm wrong.
Two service bay visits (10 work days in limbo and weekends and C/S issues) since Nov., I'm quickly loosing the joy of ownership.
Y'all have AGW,

I have been stymied by the instability too. I posted this in the Electronics forum.

2024 CLE AMG53, 2019 VW Tiguan SEL
Good Day,
Yesterday on a rain filled day in the Ca. central coast, I picked up my CLE 53 from MB.
And like magic, the skies opened, the sun emerged to welcome my return drive home.
They had the car for 10 days (incl Sat/Sun).
There were various software updates, recall verified and performed, MBUX head unit update, control units, telematic modules tested, logs examined, escalated case for reviews to Germany.
The software engr. drove the car for 10 miles and communicated data to Germany, after 48 hours MB Germany reported that the "failure report is false" and vehicle should be released to customer.
I walked out with a three page report, filled with fault codes, updated modules etc., ( Unfortunately I did not have the opportunity to speak with the engr.)
The results are that the engine light was not on as I drove home.
Today I will run some errands, drive on a lengthy portion Hwy 1 two lane roads and see how the software behaves.
My loaner a 2025 CLA with FWD 4 cyl. was snappy, lighter in weight, a softer chassis, a good back-to-back driving comparison . I can feel the firm additional weight of my 53 and the harmonious 443 HP 6cyl.
Cheers and HAW,
LTBM

lauraanthony,
Keep us posted, document it all, identify and engage the service bay technicians for a conversation on what they are doing going forward.
I'm not a techie, but the questions are fundamental in how they will bring resources to correct once and for all these issues.
Hopefully your dealer is customer friendly.
Good luck,
LTBM
