System update OTA today
The first four starts after the update resulted in all warning lights and the seat belt beeper staying on.
In addition, various false error messages appeared and reappeared after clearing.
Such as;
"Danger of rolling..." when in park with the parking brake set.
Just about every safety system; ABS, Collision detection reported as failed...
"Do not move transmission..."
"Seat belt chime" not quite continuous, but the breaks in it made little sense.
I decided to go get lunch and stop for gas on the way.
Checking to make sure the parking brake released and set, also that the transmission shifted properly.
When I broke the seal on the gas cap, the seat belt chime turned off.
The next start behaved normally.
Two minutes later the "Check engine" light came on.
Sho nuff, when I checked, there was an engine.
No errors logged in the service screen.
Now when I press either rear window switch, all four windows go up and down.
After putting the top down, all four windows go up.
Now if only pothole detection would detect potholes and not smooth road.
Stay tuned for further adventures in computer and CAN bus land.

Ate lunch. On restarting, the check engine light went out.
/End of software upgrade/
The Best of Mercedes & AMG
Everything is working (as of this minute) and I do not see how any Sofware update is going to enhance/improve the driving experience or anything else.
Other than making it robust and removing any known glitches, leave it the f*%# alone.

At least we got a version number and installation instrucinstructions.
I wonder if the details are available to MBUSA in Sandy Springs.
i got a message on the center screen.
It said that;
An over the air update had been downloaded and was ready to install.
Dated 7/31/25.
I must close the windows and top.
Turn the engine off.
Transmission in Park
Parking brake on.
Exit the vehicle.
Lock it.
It would take some time.
Pick a time to install.
I picked a time about 5 minutes in the future.
(This is all from memory.)
Version E270.1-5683 was installed.
I didn't use the car for about 30 hours.
That is when my adventure in flashing lights and bugs began.

Interesting, I never received such a notice on my display. I do not recall any notice of OTA.
Yet our software revisions (E270.1-5683) are the same.
I wonder if that update was installed when I had various software/engine light/display issues back in Feb/March of this year.
They had my 53 for 13 days, check eng. light/display missing/etc. They performed various software and campaign updates.
That might be why I did not get the current OTA.
Cheers.

I have poor or intermittent cell service near my house.
The download could have finished on my way home.
And the update got tired of waiting for me to get out of the car.
I suspect that if there was a strong signal the update would have happened overnight.
Perhaps with an update successful on the next start.
I haven't noticed any differences so far - not sure if I'm getting more robustness yet

Today it installed after parking my 53 and returning in about 45 Min.
According to my phone app. it's an update to "increase robustness of enhancements and system stabilizations which improves driving assistance systems driving".
I'm not sure how to identify the OTA in my system ID.
Further my phone app tells me that a previous OTA (02/12//2025) for my communication module was installed.
I never got any messages of that, but my phone app just informed me of it.
Not sure how those "enhancements" come to play, but no hick -ups so far.
Cheers
