2025 CLE AMG 53 Coupe
Sad Day

It is a sad day today as it is the day I put my CLE AMG 53 into winter hibernation. Will add this car to two others that will never see winter/snow exposure.

Freshly washed and detailed then added Stabil to the gas for the next 4-5 months. Also on the battery maintainer. Will move the car once a month to reduce tire flat spotting risk.

Looking forward to spring of 2026…

I don't miss doing that. Always did that in NJ. Kept car covered and on a trickle charger through the whole winter.
Now in SWFL, I don't have to worry about that.

Ah, I remember doing this when I used to own sport cars....now I just buy sporty SUVs that I can drive year round. I still deal with separate Summer & Winter wheel sets though, but since we will be moving down to Florida next Summer, hopefully this will be our last Winter up here in Massachusetts and I won't even have to worry about that anymore.

My wife decided to have Michelin Pilot Sport A/S tires put on her new CLE 53 coupe so she can drive it this Winter, but since she works mostly from home, she plans on staying home during the snow storms....only venturing out after the plows have done their job. So far she can't really tell the difference between the Summer or all-season Michelins.

I ordered my GLE 53 Coupe with the 21" wheels / all-season tires, so now I don't even have to worry about multiple wheel sets anymore.

Having the factory summer Michelin’s limits my driving in the late fall early spring periods.

I plan on replacing them when they wear out with Michelin performance all-season tires.

I took delivery in March and put on 7,200-miles and I enjoyed every mile…

I don’t know if you are still in Utah.
If you are, no one has to tell you how brutal the winters there can be.
A couple of years back, that part of the country got so much snow, it raised the level of lake mead and lake Powell some 5 feet.
The trouble was, those lakes were so low, it would take 10-20 years of those snow levels to refill them.
Meanwhile, you would have 20 years of snow covering your roofline.

Been here for ten years since retiring in 2015. We have experienced low/normal/high winters.

We were here for the one-in-a-hundred year snowfall season. Wow!

We are 40-miles north of Park City between Powder Mountain and Snow Basin ski resorts and we got hammered. My builder built us a very robust house but he sent a crew of five guys to clear my roof as he was concerned about my Great Room and Garage. Took two days to clear the roof.

I will not drive my nice cars in the snow grunge. We have an SUV for the months I put the cars into hibernation.

I will put the Sport A/S tires on when the summer’s wear out. This will allow me to drive deeper into fall and earlier in spring. (How do you like them?)

We live on a mountainside so the drive up is steep and the snowplow really drops a lot of salt/sand traction mix on the whole road. Gets a car very grungy. Then there are many other drivers that drive like idiots in snow/ice conditions. Fortunately being retired I don’t have to drive when roads are slippery and grungy.

We only drive our all wheel drive SUV in the winter. All my cars are put into hibernation from November to mid-March unfortunately.
