Drove my wife to a surgery center for a minor procedure this morning.
Everything was working fine in the car.
Dropped her off and went back to the car and started it.
Both screens were completely black. The NAV screen periodically would flash on but to a screen of white and then go back to black.
Speakers were emitting static pops every so often.
Sorry for the quality of photos. Wanted to capture them quickly to show it to the dealer.
Called MB Naples and even though I didn't have an appointment, he told me to come right and and he would give me a loaner
even though the receptionist whom I just spoke to said there weren't any loaners left.
That's service. Kudos to Randall.

Damn it. That’s awful. Sorry you have to deal with this in addition to your wife’s surgery. I hate these f-ing screens. I am pretty loyal to Mercedes, but this new generation is making it hard to remain a customer. I like my CLE 53 for the most part, but I regret not holding out for the right gently used 2020-21 C Class sedan, 2023 coupe, or the last generation E Class.
Let us know what the dealer says and what causes this issue. It’s unacceptable.

My GLC63SE has done this before - just turned car off locked and unlocked and it worked fine
I had this a very long time ago when I first got the car. Took it in for a quick fix and it never happened again. Hopefully after you never see it return again!

Best I can glean is it was a software update needed (I might be totally missing some minor things or compatible items here too).
If cars are more computers than cars now, why can't the software updates be pushed to the car in a timely enough manner to ensure continuous flawless operation of the car? What am I missing here?
Speaking to the masses and slightly asking generic questions here too, not pilling on @dudley07726 to add misery to his pain.

SA said he’s had a lot of C’s & CLE’s coming in for this. Thus, they are quite familiar with the issue and the repair process.
Initially, the SA said that an OTA update somehow corrupted some communication between 2 units
in the car. I don't know. I have to take him at his word. So, as you can see, there was a software update performed to remedy the issue.
I asked what happens if I am out of warranty and this occurs again whereby MB sends out an OTA update and it screws everything up again.
He told me they would take care of it.
We shall see.
So much tech in cars. I treat the screens like iPhones. Be careful with them and take it in for a “hard test” when it doesn’t work. Glad it all worked out and it’s all good now !
