Two Questions on Driver Seat and Engine Sound

My driver’s seat no longer returns to its set position after I pull the seat forward to access the back seat. Is there some feature or option that could have disengaged that? Passenger seat works fine.

on the engine, it’s now cold in the northeast and the engine has a new sound too it. Almost sounds like a cold four banger with a “ticking”. Not describing it well, but have others noticed a change in the engine sound while idling?

I just picked up my car after getting the windows (re)-tinted, some small recall item done, and installing all season tires (thank you to those in that other thread that flagged the seriousness of that)

thank you for the help

The engine sound might be more noticeable sound from the direct injection. It doesn't get cold enough here to have any different sounds and whatnot.

The seat...not sure at all.

thank you. Looks like I’ll have to take this back to the dealer. Surprising all the wires to the seats are so exposed and they are cleaning hidden. My 2014 E350 had a nice plastic storage compartment beneath the seat. Shame they didn’t do that on this car. Provides some needed extra storage and hides the wires

Does the seat return to set position if you press the memory button 1 or 2 whatever it was set to? If so recall the seat to your memory position and then re-save the that position again. Just a guess as to what to try. Hope it helps.
As for engine can't say cold here is 55 in the morning...

Good suggestion. Yes, the seat returns to the saved memory position if I hit the “1” button. I re-saved the seat position but unfortunately this problem persists

I am now 5 months into ownership of my 2025 CLE 53. I am not sure I love this car like I did my last two MBs 😕

Engine Sound

Could your engine sound be low-speed pre-ignition (LSPI)? If so, high octane ethanol free fuel could solve it. Also, make sure your crankcase oil meets MB229.71.

My 1 month old 2026 CLE just started to do this as well. I am not too bothered yet. Plesae let me know if you go into dealer what/if was done to fix.

My previous Audi used to do this every once in a while - it was when I had the seatback reclined too much to not allow sufficient room in the back. Once I adjusted the seatback, the auto-positioning worked correctly again - any chance that is what is happening ?

Hello jsloan01: Regarding your change in engine sound, I had a similar change in September 2025 that did not sound correct for my 2014 CLE 450 cabriolet - acquired August 2024. I checked Setting on the menu then Vehicle then Driving and I found the Progressive Sound option turned ON. When I changed this to OFF, the sound returned to normal. You might check this setting as it may have changed during an OTA update download? Yes, the bad sound did not sound strong like my six cylinders.

The progressive sound was meant to simulate a V8 although that feature was not available in the USA according to forum members here. Are you from Europe if not, how come yours got it? Unless they changed it.

If you are referring to the muffler icon - I believe they changed it from standard to a 550 dollar option. I have it on my CLE 53 and made sure it had that option. I know some folks do not like fake sound, but I am not one of them

Thanks for your reply, sorry for the confusion, I was talking about the simulating sound feature that is only available in outside North America, it is meant to simulate a V8 sound and only available on the M256 non 53 version so the CLE 450 for example.

As for the Real Performance Sound in the CLE 53 I believe those are legit sounds piped in from mics into car speakers?
