There's no option to disable it. Below a certain speed (30 mph if I remember correctly), it starts scanning for suitable parking spots and indicates via arrows on which side of the street it found one. That's all it does, unless you then activate the active parking assist. Otherwise just ignore it. I do sometimes look at it, if I'm not sure if the spot is large enough, so it's kinda useful w/o needing to be explicitly turned on.
Thanks for that. Picked up the AMG CLE 53 on Wednesday so gradually getting familiar with it. So far I like it. My RS5 seemed more “ nimble”, and smaller, even though the cars are very near the same size. Might be the view over the hood…
And for you hockey fans, the North Dakota Fighting Sioux are almost on top. Could go all the way!
Yes, the CLE is larger. It's larger than the C63 Coupe was, too. It sort of sits between the C and E class, since both the C and E coupes were replaced by it and comes in at nearly 4500 lbs. That's about 500 lbs heavier than both the RS5 and C63 Coupe. I'm not particularly pleased with the recent AMG models. Too heavy and everything is AWD now.
@MHBLAW If you are new to mercedes, the first thing you should get is a MB specific scanner. A popular one is the LAUNCH Creader Elite 2.0 BENZ. That will let you code out features you don’t want (such as disabling the START/STOP), change the limitations some have (such as top speed), and add some you don’t have (such as activating adaptive brake lights). Eventually, you will want to get XENTRY, Mercedes official diagnostics system, for serious DIY.
I think you can disable the P indicator with LAUNCH. It would probably be a change in the Instrument Cluster (IC) module. I want to say the option is Active Parking Assist, but I could be confusing that with the proximity alerts that you are about to hit something when parking. Next time I get a chance, I will look. But it’s likely to be a while.

Actually, the coding to disable Active Parking Assist is in the Central Gateway (CGW) module. I’ve not tried it, but now I know where to look. (NOTE: This is why you will want XENTRY, as well.) PARKTRONIC is the feature that sounds an alarm when parking and getting close to an object. Also, the attached page is 1 out of 3 pages of configuration options. Some are dependent on hardware and simply activating them in the software will not work.
