Question Painting calipers - Question to ask

So I want to paint my calipers but before I do, I wanted to know if this is a simple task that I could do on my own or if there are any precautions that I should take before starting. If you were wondering what color I was going to paint them, I am still not quite sure but I'm deciding between orange, neon yellow (Highlighter color), or bright green like the green Lambos.

I'm just messin around, I'm painting them black because they are rusty and look like crap.

lol, good one.

Black would like nice. The only pointer I could give is to clean them real well before you apply the paint. Also, clear coat it if you can...that will make a big difference.

I painted mine using G2 Paint kit (black). In my case, I spent few hours on cleaning the calipers (about 30 min/wheel) by steel brush and cleaning spray. The painting itself was easy with the kit and took about 15 mins/wheel. My calipers were not removed. I had to use jacks and supporting stands to clean and paint one wheel at a time. Overall, I'm pretty happy with the result.

Don't use spray (messy). Don't use kit (rip-off). Rustoleum gloss has been great with no chipping or peeling, colors still bright despite scrubbing.......5 bucks!

I have to disagree with the kit being a ripoff. You can find them for under 40 bucks, the paint has ceramic in it, and is self leveling so you'll get a much smoother finish than you will with other methods. :0)

You're looking at around a 5hp to the wheels gain with the black paint.

Big deal! If you use Rustoleum on your calipers your ENTIRE undercarrage will be free from rust for the next 25 years.

Caliper Paint Kit

The paint kit works good ,BUT YOU GOT to prep all the calipers first. The paint is 2 part. Once you have added in the activator , I believe you have only 1 hour of working time . Then it starts to lock up.(even with the lid on) It is about an hour per wheel. Have FUN
