How do I remove the gauge cluster on 99 clk 320?
Hey all,
Its been a while since I posted.I am trying to replace my clutser with a amg one but I don't want to break anything trying to remove the plugs.I can remove the cluster itself but I don't know how to remove the 2 plugs that connect up to the clutser.I can just pry it with a flathead but I don't wanna break anything.
Can anyone help out.
Thanks club!!!

Exactly the tools you need. Just changed a bulb today in my dash. It was a piece of cake.
Oops...nevermind. Now I remember why I didn't respond to this. You know how to take out the cluster. How to undo the the two connectors was already answered.

How would you yank on it?? there’s no where to grab.. If you use any tool other than those hooks your probably gonna crack the casing.
Mercedes make these tools for a reason.. I'd prefer to use it since they aren't that expensive anyways..
Here's a thread with some good photos an info on the topic.

u push your fingers into the side of the cluster, and use the side of the dash and just pull it out. It is only held in with friction. And you can juast remove the 2 bolts under the dash, the cover of the steering collum, and reach your hand in and shove the cluster out if you want too.
I have had no problems just removing it by hand tho.

Will This Most Likely Cause Problems With Display?
Is it more likely than not that in taking out the gauges to add the silver rings will cause damage to the shift/time display gauge lights? In reading this post and others, this seem common- and not worth it if this is the case. Thanks for the input. I have the gauge rings but now not sure if I should install them.

na the cluster splits right apart, u dont even touch the lcd's there all attached to the back side of the cluster. I changed my gauges to white thats why i know alot on the subject, its really no big deal.

White Gauges?
Where can you buy good looking white Gauges? I assume that it would be a good time to replace them when I do the silver gauge rings. Thanks for the info.
