![Question](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/icons/icon5.gif)
Are there preinstalled connections for the illuminated door sills?
They easy to install?
Does the light turn off when the door closes or is it always on?
If the interior lights shut off when the doors are open, will the door sills still light up?
Where can I get them?????
Thanks

Door Sills
I understand you can buy them aftermarket. I recently priced them at my M-B dealer and they were about $160 for the sills, $200 for the illuminated bars and then $100 for one hour labor to install.
Not sure if the numbers are exact but I remember thinking the whole thing would be around $469 installed.
I do know that early on some posts indicated they could be had for around $200 as a d-i-y project and that cutting into the door sill wiring was required.
Given we've all spent about $60K or so for our cars I'd vote to let the dealer do it. I'll probably do it when I bring my car in for its first B service in a few months.
Cheers.

I got my parts for $200 and gave to the dealer to install them. It took them 4 hours to install that. I am not sure if it lights when the doors are closed since I can't even see them that way. I can post some pictures of my sills later (I don't have access to my computer at the moment). Does anyone know how to post multiple pictures at once? I only know how to post one picture per post. Plssss let me know.

It's not a 1-hour job for sure. I have not done it on a CLK, but it's a 4-hour job on an SLK for the factory sills. Less than 2 hours for aftermarket sills, assuming you know which wires to splice into.
The factory sills take a long time to install because you have to remove alot of trim pieces to route the wires, plus the final connection is inside the fuse box.
It's really hard to take a good pic of the sills because it has to be dark to see them. I have an old accessory catalog with a picture of the lighted sills but you can't tell what car it's on.

Is there an oline catalogue where you can see if they have these sills for your particular car? They are not in the "Accessories" section of the official MB web sit.

It's difficult to see the lights during the day time but it looks impressive at night. People wonder what that is and have curious looks on their face when I open the door.
