Steering Wheel Interface for an Aftermarket Head-Unit

Ok so i bought my new Pioneer AVIC-N3 today for my clk and im looking forward to getting it up and running. My one gripe with the thing is that i cant figure out a way to interface my steereing wheel controlls to it. I've tried every alternative i can think of and nothing seams to be working. The closest thing i found was at this UK car electronics store site, (CAN01MER - http://www.caraudiodiscount.com/acat...s_becker2.html) and i'm still not ever sure about that. Not to mention they dont ship to the USA so thats gonna be fun to try to accomplish. Does anyone know of any devices that overcome this problem? I love my steering wheel button and dont want to give them up. I have a 2002 clk55 with a OEM Bose Premium system in it and a 2006 Pioneer AVIC-N3 head-unit. Thanks for your insight.

I lived in Korea for about 2 years and while I was there I purchased a car called a SsangYong Rexton. You may know it as the new GL class Mercedes. Anyways that's a whole other topic. (The car is basically a mercedes, minus the star) Anyways, I installed a kenwood in-dash tv and a product called an "Aladin". It worked perfectly. What it does is, it programs the buttons on the steering wheel to whichever button you press on the aftermarket's remote. The device is placed somewhere inside the cabin where it will be in sight of the radio. (like another remote)

Search eBay. I saw something like that there. It didn't support my brand (Denon) but I am sure it will Pioneer.

i heard it wasnt too responsive, and you need to press it a few times at times...what was your experience with the product? was it sensitive and accurate? or did it stall and delayed?

It works perfectly....it is just as effective as your remote control that comes with your aftermarket radio. It must have a clear line of sight to your head-unit, so I guess if someone has their arm in the way, you would have to press it again. But other than that....it worked great. Still have the car in Korea. If I ever get some time to get overthere I'll snap a picture for you guys.

Sorry to go off topic, but how was the install of the unit itself? I am looking to put one in a 02 clk 320. It has the factory nav unit/radio currently. Are there any kits or does it simply mount up in place of the factory unit?

Thanks.

you talking about the avic-n3 or the interface?

BTW in responce to this thread Ive found out that they do make an interface that fully intergrates the wheel buttons of a 02 w208 and 99% of head units but not one that is compatible with the avic-n3. Therefor i had to give that up but its almost inconciquencial when you have a touch screen.
