Question Please post: Shocks and springs installation procedure

Are lowering shocks and springs installable by a non-pro?

I want to attempt the installation myself and I am wondering if it is possible without any special tools. Do I have to remove the lower control arms? If so, do I need special tools?

Please give me you insights. I think this may be a good "How to" article. Thank you

I changed out my entire suspension before I worked for Evosport. My knowledge of cars, at the time, was much less, but I was still able to do it. It can be a very difficult procedure for the inexperienced. Depending on yours, you may be better off having it done by a professional.

Wink How about special tools?

Ben,

Thank you for your wonderful comment. But bottom line:
Are special tools necessary?
Do I need to remove the lower control-arms?
Are there any dealer-only tools or trade-only stuff that cannot be obtained easily?

Thanks in advance.

No special tools require, just common sense but it also not just anybody can do it. If you the type of person that love to challenge then you the right person for the job...:>))).

There is a Mercedes spring compressor that is recommended, but not entirely necessary. Another way to change the suspension would be to lower each control arm and remove the parts from there.
