Hey there, I have had the same thing happen to me in the past! Never had confirmation that they were truly linked but everytime I need brakes it happens to me!

I had the same thing happen to me a week ago. I did a search and it is caused by a faulty brake switch that cost $8.00 for the part and 15 mins to replace. I haven't replaced mines yet because it was the first time it happened, but eventually I will. Do a search on this forum or the benzworld forum and you will find more details.

Sometimes it just has to be recalibrated...taken from the other list....Calibrate your ABS and ESP systems by turning the steering wheel all the way to your RIGHT and then all the way to your LEFT. then bring it back to the midle. Notice the two yellow lights desappear from you dashboard.

You may have to press the brake pedal while following Tomtomtomtom's instructions, but he has it right.

My cAR was doing that on start up.. The battery was getting weak and that was the culprit...If u feel your car having a hard time cranking over, chances are a battery on the outs is popping the lights..9 or on cod starts))

If that steering wheel turn technique doesn't fix the problem you may need to replace the brake switch and its an easy fix. I assembled a fix with photos in the DIY section. Costs only about $20-25 and 10-15 of your time.
