subwoofer trunk enclosure questions.

did the research but coudlnt find any good answers.. just wanted to find out which way is the easiest and best way to create a "port" in the trunk to the cabin. ive read a few post about removing a panel behind the rear armrest, anyone have some instructions on doing this? or maybe removing the rear sub? im not planning on doing a custom trunk... just wanted some extra bass. any help is gladly appretiated!

Well if it were me, I'd do something that allowed me to glass load. You're enhancing movement of air will improve the bass no matter what, but allowing the wave to come through the deck and load off the glass will bring you up +3 DB, so I'd either do a port through the rear deck with an after market plastic port and a jig saw or I would remove something from the rear deck to allow passage.

When you move more air, you create stronger low bass. When you glass load you get a 3 Db boost over all ranges which brings all the notes up to balance.

If I were you, I would just fold down the back seat. That's what I have always done in cars, and nothing sounds louder. That way you don't have to cut anything up and all you have to do is push up the seat when you have passengers.

easiesst way is to just remove the panel behind the armrest like you said, its easy jsut remove the 4 philips screws i think, its been a while and slide it up and out, or down and out.

You should get more than enough air transfer that way.

I'm in the middle of doing my install right now myself. I just swapped the becker out for an alpine in dash. Modded the alpine outputs to accept the Bose amp until I get everything installed in the trunk and can do the big final hookup after the trunk is completely set up.

I have a set of AudioControl EQT's, AudioControl System 90 amp, AudioControl 2xs crossover, PPI Art AX400 amp, MB Quart DVC tens, Focal 6.5in component set, and a few other goodies to install and I have no idea where I am going to cram it all.

I don't want to give up my trunk so I think I am going to hang most of it from the back deck. The sub box will be my only compromise, but I'll stick it on quick disconnects so I can pull it when I need to.

How is it on rattles? My deck and window shade rattle with the stock speakers. Were you able to control yours or are you buzzing up the block?

I'm going to use two rubber feet to keep mine from rattling. They are available anywhere, even at walmart in the crafts section. You want to find the softest one's you can find to absorb the deflection.

Nice, clean set-up!! It feels good to have that extra bass in a coupe!! I added some bass to mine as well...makes the drive more enjoyable!! I put the amp facing the trunk (more space for cooling) and the 15" sub facing forward (more bass when I lower the back seats)

This is one of the two ways to get some extra bass into the 208. I have also a kicker in my trunk

The other opinion is a bandpass. But this is very very difficult ti build one for the 208.

The most important thing for good sounding bass is to get into the cabin.

Since summer last year I tune um my stereo. I hope it will be finished in max two month because it's so difficult installing a good sounding and looking stereo into an Mercedes especially in sedans or coupes ...

That will be expensive with custom radios.

One posibility is an amplifier with an high input. But there is ab big risk of piping (I hope that's the correct word)

Another way is to go into the amplifier directly. But! The minus speaker wire from the radio has to be the same as ground! And the output voltage mußt be less than the input voltage of the amplifier

The third one ist to buy cheap high7low adapter but you can forget them completely

The best way ist an active adapter. Alpine has a new one. It will be availible in Germany next month I hope. It is a soundprozessor especially for oem radios.

@jrsalesco

have you tried other concepts ob subwoofers in your clk?
