Spark plugs/cables
So I called the Benz dealer today asking for spark plugs and cables. I got $130 for the spark plugs and $55/cable. I couldn't belive how expensive it works out to be. I mean 2 cables per cylinder, damn... Which brings me to my question are there any other cables I can use besides OEM? And what about about the spark plugs? Which ones can I use other then OEM? Guys need help!

I'm not quite following you. $55 for the set of plug wires? I'm assuming that's not it since you said it's very expensive. Obviously there are choices other than the dealer.

Whoa!!!! That's completely ridiculous. Check out http://www.magnecor.com, I got their 8mm plug wires for my 430 for about $200 including shipping.
I did end up getting my plugs from the dealer (F8DPP33) instead of online as the online place I bought from sent me the resistor plug even though they advertised it as the non resisitor plug. I paid $9.50 a plug I think.

I bought a set of plugs from my local dealer last weekend. With the MBCA discount the plugs were $120 for 16. Without the membership discount the price would have been 162.88 +tax. If you're a member of the MBCA, you may want to ask for the discount. At my local dealer, your price with MBCA discount would be $90 +tax. If you're not a member you may want to consider joining.

www.autohausaz.com sells aftermarket wires for a little over $200 for a set if I remember correctly BUT why are you changing them? I've never seen a post on here that resulted in any benefit from changing them and I've tried this myself. The only time it's warranted is when you are throwing an error caused by a bad wire.

I went to get my door fixed and to get a Service A performed and my mechanic said that I am in need of a major service, which includes transmission service and spark plugs/wires replacement......I was told to expect approximately $1100...is this about right?? NOTE: I can't do any of this stuff myself....

Check Chrysler Crossfire part at Autozone/local discounter
I haven't verified this spefic part - I'm in the middle of a huge rear suspension job (my first time taking apart the rear end - so it's kind of slow going) - but thus far I have found very few Crossfire engine/electrical parts that weren't exactly the same. From the Chrysler Dealer they even have the German manufacturing stamps still on them. I'd bet the plug wires you can get from a local discounter are identical, but their computers won't say that because MB still restricts most of its compatibility specs.

I assume that for your transmission service they'll only do a flush...as for the cables they are about $600 for the cables alone. No wait in your case it would be more because you will need 16 cables not 12 like me. So I don't know thinking about it sounds just about right. I would still look for an independent shop, it's too bad your not around in Canada I would have hooked you up for labour. How many K's?
