Help! Clunking in my drivetrain...I think
Ok i have a 1998 clk320 with about 105k miles on it. I have done all of the schedulled maintinance and have never had a problem with the car. This morning i was sitting in my car in park and i noticed a dull clunking sound that was clunking in tune with the revolutions of the engine. At first i thought it was something in the engine, but when i put it up on my lift I could feel the clunk in the rear axle and through the drive shat and all the way up to the tranny, so i dont know which part it is actualy coming from. It doesnt clunk when i am in reverse either? Has anybody heard of this or experianced this? Thanks, but man im pretty bummed out because i have a feeling thi is gunna cost me both arms and probably a leg too!!

Sounds like the flex disc. If the dealer does the work, it's about $200 in parts and an hour or two in labor. If you do it yourself, it's about $150 in parts and 45 minutes with your lift.

ok sounds about right, im going to lift it up and try and get to the flex disk, although i have never done that before...This is the first mb i have ever owned. Is there a thread that details how to do it? or do you know how to do it? Thanks
