I would have said the same thing. I have had the lock lock in a couple cars usually move the wheel and turn the key and it is fine. Let us know what happens.

On my 2000 430 CLK there is a small motor that pulls back a pin bolted to the steering column. The ignition switch computer has to recognize your key to make that motor run. There is one bolt thru the column lock that holds it in place but the bolt won't come out unless the lock is unlocked. Either that or drill out the bolt. My car had some real messed up wiring when I got it so I just droped a short bolt in the top that is long enough to hold it in but it doesn't have the slot in it so that it is locked in place. That way if it wouldn't unlock I can reach up and pull the bolt out and remove the lock. Jerry

MB tech says it could either be the key that is messed up or the actual ingnition switch. whatever it is i hope my extended warranty has got me covered. i know this will cost many $$$$!
