EC light stuck ON - no more AC
Hi guys, I was wondering if any one has any insight what could cause the EC ie economy light on my 1998 CLK320 no to go OFF any longer.
With EC turned ON on temp control panel I've no AC just heater control. I can not turn the EC off.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

The EC light will stay on if the system is low on freon.

AC EC constantly on
i have the same problem... once the freon is low the EC light comes on to indicate that it has shut off the AC connection... therefore once the freon is refilled... the climate control unit needs to be reset... and if reseting doesn't do the trick.. then its the Climate control unit itself... thats where i m at now.. with no freakin AC.. hot as hell... and a used one could be like $600.. so lets hope yours is just low on freon and not the whole control panel..

EC Switch Operation (if not low on freon)
To recap my reply to Scottster77, you can make the AC come on if the problem is not low freon. Just leave the ignition on (with the EC light on) for a few seconds (I usually just put on my seat belt), then turn off the ignition. When you turn on the ignition again, the EC light can be turned off.

Take it to a benz specialist or the dealer and have them reset the climate system.. well.. after your freon/refridgerant is recharged.. and assumin that there are no leaks.. that could also be a possibility that the EC light is still on.. Finally got my EC off and the AC is up and operational... thank god.. its gonna be a hot summer

Reviving this because I have a similar problem: both the Auto and EC lights stay on. Went into diagnostic mode with the climate control unit....no error codes displayed. I also think (if I was reading the right diagnostic code) that the freon pressure is at 13 BAR.
Ideas?
