Service B $650?!?!?
I just called my local mb dealer and they told me service B would cost me $650! Is that a lot? Is this something I could do on my own? I just bought the car a month ago and I need Service B although I did put 3k miles on it. How many miles before you are suppose to do Service B and what about Service A? Damn this ****'s a lot of mulah!

Maintanence is expensive for MB's...obviously. A normal B service usually runs in the $350-450 range. For $650, they are likely doing more than just the regular B service. Ask them exactly what they are doing....they might be flushing the brake fluid and coolant...in which case $650 sounds about right for the dealer...

I'm not sure what they are going to do. All I did was call up and ask how much Service B was and they said $650. They dont even know how many miles are on my car (41k) because I have never taken it there before and they didn't ask any information, including what kind of mb it was.

those services are a waste of money if u ask me. all they are doin is changing the oil. everything else are simple checks that you can do yourself. stuff like checking the thread on tires, check windshield washer fluid, brakes, etc. i dont think all that costs hundreds of dollars. cause if you do need anything, thats at an additional cost

From what I recall when I had mine done, a lot of it was just inspection. I'm not a DIYer though so I had a mechanic do it. The dealers like to gouge on prices, I suggest you find a good independent mechanic. I found mine by just checking around the internet for recommendations.

Service B includes changing engine oil and filter, dust filter, wiper blades, brake and coolant flush if above specified milage. They will also completely check everything over, and should provide you with a printout of condition of everything they checked. They usually perform recalls and service campaigns that have not been taken care of yet. When they update the ME and have to SCN code it, the engine runs the fan. Most people just unplug the fan to keep battery voltage from dropping below 11.9 volts. If that happens, the whole process needs to be restarted. This usually takes about 11 minutes. An easy way around it is to just hook up a battery charger.

this is basically an oil change
My local Saab dealer changed the oil and did all the inspection and fluid top offs the MB dealer would normally do. They charged $120.00 with Mobil 1 and the MB filter.
They did the same for the Saab for $50.
Check around for a oil change places who do a lot of imports
Typically the dealership uses thier newest and less experienced technicans for this type for work so it is not rocket science
