Tire Issues

I decided to take the family on a 700 mile roadtrip last week. I just got the car with brand new tires. The tires were supposely real good tires. They are Falken FK-451's. The front is 225/40 ZR18 and the back is 255/35 ZR18. Everything was good on the trip and I was averaging about 23.2 mpg. Then I blew my front right tire. I ended up putting on my spare and had to buy a new one. The trip was 700 miles and I was 30 minutes away from destination when it happened. Not a big deal but sucked with the fam in the car. I also ran the car up to about 138 mph and then it wouldn't go any faster. Felt good but got a ticket a hour later in TN going 98 in a 70. That was $175.00 I could have spent on something else

But anyways, so once the new tire were put on and the vacation was over, we started heading back for another 700 miles. The car ran smooth and made it home safe. Well, last night I was driving a boooooommm. There went another tire. I knew this was going happen because of the camber but I didnt think it would happen so fast. I have called everyone in town and knowone sells this tire. Not even a Falken tire. Its insane. Then I find out from Falken's website that they have discontinued the FK-451 and replaced it with a FK-452. Hopefully, I will find someone locally around here. If not I will have to order it. Anybody know a tire site that could hook me up?

Camber would not kill a tire within 700 miles unless it was terrible. Just lowering your car didnt push it that far out of spec, there is either rim damage that makes a slow leak and then the tire fails, or you have some other bad alighment issue.

Either way get it checked out good luck

that sucks. i don't remember if they have falken tires, but try tirerack.com. i have to get new tires too. i found my fronts for $120 or something like that, and they're 235/35/19ZR. for the rear tires- 275/30/19ZR(i like wide tires!) it was like $150. or another site to try is edgeracing.com

good luck!

Is there a basic warranty on these tires? To have had two fail in such a short time is unacceptable. Were they retreads?

Well Im sure its not rim damage because the same thing happen not only front tires but back. The alighment seems to be pretty damn good with the mods so I really dont know what it is.

I bought the car with the tires being new. I have tried to get in touch with the previous owner but he is out of town. So we will see later if he had any warranty. Not that Im ware of to your second question.
