Hi everybody,

I found some concept art for the 2009 CLK. Unfortunately they seem to be sticking to the w209 style which I don't like . I wish they would go back to the more sporty look of the w208.

What do you guys think?

Agree
Yeah I agree, the back makes them look like cheap Japanese Imports. It doesn't do it for me.

it looks like a Hyundai. Booooooooo

...I complained to Rob (former head of Mercedes North American AMG devition) at AMG Fest 06 but he said i was too late... designs were already selected and being developed. I really hope it somehow changes.

w208 FTW

Well, they are concept drawings so they may change a bit typically not that much.

Yup like I said in another forum, the new CLK is hideous, I mean seriously take a look at the CLK63 and now look at this....what is MB doing?? honestly.

This is why MB fails and they are definately going down a wrong path right now, the whole new ML/CLS front end is butt-ugly hate it, the rear-end is horrible too (yes I will say it) ricey and cheap. They went from a ****ing CLK63 to this...think about it...

I dunno...I really like the front and rear of the CLS...and even the ML. But the CLS is one of my favorite cars mercedes has ever released. I thought everybody liked them...

I been tempted to trade my trusty CLK in a few times but I just can't see doing it for something I don't like. I guess that if the new one comes out like these pictures I will be keeping mine a few more years.

These pictures make the car look fat and to tall. I want a lower slimmer car!

yea the cls is one of the sickest benzes out. i think that all these new Mercedes that they are coming out with are pretty ugly. like the cl is slowly growing on me the c63 looks like a evo and the clk is looking hella ugly i would stick 2 my w208 any day.

I guess I was being a bit harsh on it but I meant that the styling has a CLS/ML more to the ML side and the front end looks like a SUV, not dissing the CLS or anything but the CLK should stay in it's racing roots and not turn into a big hefty machine, too me the car is way to big, with no beef at all...you want beefy take a look at the CLK63, that's what a CLK looks like.

That front end design is just not fitting for that car and neither is the back, def not the back the rear of that car is not doing any justice.

C63 is growing big...watch.

No, they are just some artist's renderings, so they may change significantly. Wait for the official concept cars or at least sketches/drawings/pictures from Mercedes.

My issue is that the MB cars continue to get bulkier and heavier, I know that HP has increased as well and that the power to weight ration is better on the newer cars but I find the W208 quite nimble for a luxury car. My opinion is the light nimble cars are much more fun to drive than heavy cars.

Here are some curb weight comparisons:

CLK320 (W208) 3,213 Lbs
CLK430 (W208) 3,323 Lbs
CLK350 (W209) 3,585 Lbs
CLK550 (W209) 3,720 Lbs

Given the looks of the new car this trend will continue, not good in my view. I would much prefer to see a lower, sleeker, lighter car. A CLK350 weighing in at 3,000ilbs would look much better and would be a delight to drive!

I have owned 4 MB cars from new, for me to buy my 5th I need MB to design a CLK with flowing lines and to loose loose the pork!

I am going to keep my W208 for now!

More realistic? They look the same. I don't know why you think these pics would be more "realistic"

I don't think it's that bad. but it doesn't look long and low and ultra sporty. Just looks like a (stylish) normal coupe. not like a beefy (good word!!) tail kickin coupe.

That is the most retarded looking concept car I've ever seen.. vI guess the W208 will always be the nicest looking CLK..

Right... how can they be more "realistic", when they are still fake? Basically, I think that the artists are trying to say that Mercedes wants to get away from the double ovals and go along with the more rectangular headlights we see in the new S, C and CL... and somehow "borrow" the look of the Lexus GS headlights (which I don't like, by the way)

it's not a concept car, and not an official picture...

oh, and by the way... it's not a concept car, and not an official picture...

Officially, the CLK still looks like this, but of course, the 2009 will look different after the redesign... let's wait for the official pics before we make our comments:
