You can buy a key online.
My key got ripped earlier this summer and I was not able to lock my doors without getting out the small blade. My trunk could not be locked, and I always had to lock my passenger door manually, because the little blade only locked the drivers side door.
Thanks to a fellow member here, a lot of us were able to order our keys online and they arrived already programmed.
Go to www.oempartsdirect.com
You need to put in these 2 part numbers.
2117663606 for the key standard
2037665006 blade smart
Not expensive.
This is for the new style mercedes key. I have it and it works perfectly fine on my 00 CLK430.

Yes, those 2 part numbers will give you the key with the chrome.
I just went to the site and put in those 2 part numbers, and looks like the standard key was superceded with another part number. Don't order just yet.
Hopefully someone else can help us out here.

Just read through this entire thing. The pricing has changed, but I think it says that in the thread.

Thats the thread from where I provided him with the part numbers. The key standard part number was superceded with another one. Therefore, there must be another part number for the key now.

The process is very simple, they'll send you an email and they'll ask you to fax over your registration and license.

Probably solved by now, but for future reference, do not let anyone attempt to "make" "get" you a new key. Only through MB, no one else. 225 for the key, from the house comes programmed to your car. You insert it, wait 1-5 min for auto-sync procedure and voila!
Lost key, see your dealer. Been there done that.
