Thanks Greg and Big Mike. I have plans to fix the issues with this CLK (gauge face issue, radio face issue, climate control buttons) as soon as I get the money to replace all these things if I A) don't fix the problem and/or B) make it worse. LoL

If you'll click on this thread:

https://mbworld.org/forums/clk-class...on-broken.html

and go to post #10, I illustrated how I fixed mine. Exactly the same manner in which big mike is speaking of.

Just thought I could help aid in the understanding of how to do this fix. It is VERY easy, cheap, and God it saves you so much money and not to mention...discomfort.

This has been really helpful, thanks a lot guys. I've been sooooo busy lately and haven't had a chance to get on the forum. I actually have some pics to post because Ms Lucy has really put me through the ringer. I haven't tried popping it (climate control panel) off myself so I hope it's as easy as it sounds!

call 916-517-9917 JOHN, it's aplace in rancho cordova but they sold me a driver airbag for 150 so i can't imagine a climate control would be more than 85-100 and they ship all over the place it think

My buttons broke as well; both the driver and passenger buttons as well as the other one mentioned. Anyone have any extra buttons to sell. I know the climate control unit works as it can be set via the defrost mode.

Does this button get repaired in the same way as the driver/passenger buttons; with tabs that break off? All the other posts focus on the driver/passenger vertical buttons and not this horizontal "see saw' one. Thanks.

98 CLK 320 w208 broken climate control button
I too have a broken passenger side up temp button, I have taken cap cover off. I found the little plastic part that broke off the back of the internal white button structure. Any help would be appreciated.

My Question is: How do you get the white internal button structure out of the climate unit with out breaking it? Is is retained by a screw or just plastic retainer tabs?

They snap in, but be careful because they break easy. I used a combination of super glue, JB weld and some little sheet metal pieces to repair mine. I fixed both the temp button and both auto buttons on my car this way. It has held up well so far.
