2000 CLK repair at SF benz

omg, so the gf just had her car in for repairs as SF benz and they charged her $600 bucks to replace a failed coolant sensor!! wtf? talk about rip off! i know never go to the dealer for repairs but this was an emergency. anyways, the price was 150 to diagnose, 750 for the repair/parts. they credit you the diagnostic fee so the final price was $600. mind you this was just a $70 dollar part with a $680 labor fee! to add insult to injury, the advisor jennifer smith quoted her $150 just to place the freaking windshield wiper!

Ouch, that's pretty expensive.

I'm also from S.F. and I almost never take my car to MB of SF.

the ONLY way to get back at the stealerships is just to BASH THEM and BASH THEM in this forum, until every local member knows NOT to go to that particular stealership.

let the bashing begin. NEVER to go SF Benz for repairs cuz they rip you a new hole. stay away from Jennifer Smith. She apparently thinks replacing a windshield wiper takes 1hr to do and requires the use of power tools and 10 techs.

Never go the Smythe European in San Jose. When I had my C32, it had a plugged windshield nozzle. Ford Congleton wanted to charge me $200 bucks to unclog it claiming they needed to remove and replace the hood liner. WTF? Car was under warranty and he claim it wasn't covered. Did I have "Rape Me" printed on my forehead? I went to Autobahn and they took care of it for $0.

Sorry, i had to rant. I know times are tough for some, but damn, how can you sleep at night? Nevermind, I'm sure they sleep pretty damn well in that new bed they just bought w/ your money!

Get a new service adviser. I guess it's all about who you know there. I had an emergency in hell hole Fresno and they tried the same crap. I called my service adviser @ SF Benz and he instructed me on what to say, and got the work done under warranty.

I just read your thread. I have never quoted anyone for wiper inserts for 150.00. If it was more it probably for another item. Wipers are installed at no charge if you purchase them through my parts department.

I'm sorry you feel like someone is taking advantage of you. We install wipers at no charge if you purchase them through the parts department.

Mercedes-Benz of Valencia's current specials include a transmission service for $190. You'll need their coupon and the price is good until June 1.

I never take my car to MB of SF. I always get my work done at an independent shop. The only time you'll find me at SF MB is when I need to buy a part (they usually discount me b/c my dad has a dealership)
