Question Removing AMG Bumper Cover

Can anyone offer any assistance in removing the front bumper cover on a CLK?

Mach430: since you've done so much bodywork on yours, can you help with this?

THANKS IN ADVANCE!!!

a car
There are a few anchor points you need to get to
1st there are 2 nuts on the backside of the frame that the bumper attaches to these are near the bottom of the radiator after you have loosened those there are two more anchor points on the front side of the car these point are just behind the amber side markers.
there are also the plastic wheel well covering that you need to remove you will see the single hole that is on the front side of the wheel well remove those too
Lastly there are the screws that hold the bumper up near the headlight assembly, unscrew those and it should be easy to remove.

Hope that helps

Bruce,
The rear bumper is held on by 3 nuts attached to the reinforcement within the rear bumper channel to the rear body below the trunk opening. There are 6 screws, 3 on each side holding the sides of the bumper to the rear quarterpanel.

For the rear bumper you will need to perform the following steps:
- If you have Command, you will need to disconnect the cable located inside the trunk, down in the lower driver's side area. You will need to release the cable by pushing the rubber grommet outboard.
- Release your rear fender liners on both sides from your rear bumper
- Remove 1 of 3 screws located at the forward most interface between the bumper and quarterpanel. The screw is removed from the outside. There are 2 screws, a screw on each side.
- Remove trunk liner (really makes the job much simpler)
- Remove the remaining 2 screws per side between the bumper and quarterpanel. The screws can be accessed from within the trunk. There are 4 screws, 2 screws per side.
- Remove 3 retaining nuts that attach the bumper channel to the rear body. Access the nuts from inside of the trunk, right below the trunk opening.

I hope this helps, if you have additional questions, email me.

Hey Ben,
How's it going? I got my windows to work properly. After reinstalling the window seals, I tried your window reset technique. Now the windows work great. Thanks for the window reset tip and also for the compliment on the post above. Now that I have my CLK 55, I'm hoping to be part of the MBWorld scene.
