Insurance for two cars
Hi Guys,
I want to keep my Benz as a weekend car and get a 335i coupe as my daily driver. How do you insure two world class cars without paying ridiculous insurance premiums? I have no tickets over the last 7 years and no accidents. Help..

Do what I did..I placed the Navigator as a Recreational Vehicle with a low mileage cap and put the CLK as my main car. This lowered my insurance alot. I also got a multi-vehicle discount and be sure to claim daytime running lamps, and factory or aftermarket alarms. The discounts are small for each item but they add up to be a good amount. I pay about half of what my original amount is supposed to be due to discounts.

I suppose it varies by carrier. My policy with State Farm on the CLK55 has a cap of 7500 miles/year....good for a savings of a few hundred dollars annually.
Some carriers may even offer better savings if you don't drive the car to work, etc.

All agents definitely do not give the same quote. Agents with more experience are aware of available benefits. A good agent can save you a boat load of money.

Depending on where you live (in other words, if you get snow) there may be another option. A colleague only drives his 07 E550 during the non-winter months. He has what's called a "seasonal" registration. That lowers his insurance a good bit. Only problem is that if you actually finance or lease your car, the financial institution may want full coverage even during the non-driving months. We both bought our W211's outright so there's no lien.
