Another Battery Thread. I'm vexed

Well, after getting my EIS/ignition problem fixed (under warranty) they said I needed a new battery!! Dammit!! I asked how much and he said $240 WHAT?? He went into detail and said that the "Mecedes" battery is constantly test the car even when its turned off ( testing window, etc...) and only the Mercedes battery can handle such a thing.

Do I have the right to over react?

I've been using aftermarket battery after I broke the anode on my original one for over two years without any problem. Seriously, anything the stealer sells is x times more expensive even a nut. They sell you $10 nut while you can get one somewhere for 1 or 2 dolla

The battery is Mercedes-Benz part number 000000002697, it has an over the counter list price of $135, and can be purchased for $108 with an MBCA discount.

$240 sounds like the battery, plus tax, plus an installation fee.

If you drive the car home, call the 800 Mercedes Benz number, and tell them the battery is dead. They'll send a guy to your house who'll install a new battery for the cost of parts only.

The last time I checked, a battery from my local dealer was cheaper than an Interstate battery.

Yeah I picked up a battery from the dealer for $100 after core and it was cheaper than my local parts store. Installed myself hooked up jump box under hood so I wouldn't lose power and have to reset anything while I swapped the battery out.

you can get a Odyssey 680 11lb racing battery for under $100, why would you get anything else that 5x the weight. Just a thought

+1 unless you likes the OEM part. I got mine 5 year warranty Aldelco for half weight lighter about 60-70 bucks couple years ago while my local stealer qouted 200+ by the time . Still have no issue

Too Expensive

That's way too much. I got a MB battery at half the price. Just call the Mercedes 24 hour assitance number. They should dispatch a local MB dealer service vehicle.

They'll replace the battery and just charge you the cost of the battery.

Thanks!
Glad I read this post before. I had my battery replaced for $135 plus tax about 15 mins ago.

2yr warranty!
