Is it just me or does all CLK trunks can be open even while in motion?
I've always wondered about it, if I pull the trunk switch while I'm driving, does it open or does it lock... while I finally tried it in my office parking lot, and to my suprise, it opened...
Does that not seemed kind of dangerous? Still being able to open the trunk with the switch while in motion? What if it accidentaly got hooked on to something and pulled it? I would think there was a lock on it when the gear is not in Park....
Or is it just my car? Maybe my locking system is not working? Anyone?

SEE!!!! Exactly what I'm talking about!!!! I do believe this is a major problem, what if you had dead bodies in the trunk? and they started to fall off on the freeway?!?!?!?! Well, maybe not dead bodies, but umm... other normal stuff....
I think Mercedes designers miss this little point...
My friends kid was playing with the switch while I was driving, that is what brought up my curiosity.... Hate to imagine if my trunk WAS to open on a freeway....

Hmmm...interesting, I guess I'll try mine to see if it will open while the car's in motion.
Supposely, the car locks itself automatically when it gets above 9 mph (I think). In that case, the turnk will not open while the car is in motion. But, if you press the unlock button, it will unlock both the door, trunk, and the gas cap, so maybe that's why your can open your turnk while driving.

That's weird that you can't see when the trunk is up... cuz that curve in it lets me see right through. I often back up my CLK and C43 with the trunk up.

MB Designer did put some safety measure to the trunk release. You do have to pull it and hold it for couple seconds before it will release. The shape of the switch makes it diificult to be caught on something and being pulled accidentally.

I had that problem and also could not lock the doors. I tried pushing the lock button on the dash and the trunk opened. It was so wierd. When I get my car back I'm going to take it to the dealer maybe there is a code? The trunk should not open when the car is in gear.

I'm just curious....what were you guys doing, driving while playing around with the trunk release? (grin!) Let's use a bit of common sense here...the designers gave the trunk release button a different look/feel and instead of press down on it, you lift it!
