Pilot Sports -or- Bridgestone S-03

Its time to change the tires for my clk430 with stock rims, and I'm contemplating which one to get. I hear that the bridgestones are hard to balance and suffer from flat spots, but are generally better then the pilots. If anyone would have any suggestions It would be a great help

I'm a big Michelin Pilot Sports fan. I've had so many sets can't count them all. I have had nothing but good luck with them. There a great rain tire and a good performer on the street. I also like the tread pattern and the look of the tire.
From what I have read the only one's that really like the Bridgestone is the Tire Rack, because there the largest distributor.
If anyone else has had a chance to compare them chime in!

I've gone through Pilot MXIV, Pilot Sports, Bridgestone SO3's, Pirelli P-Zeros, and now Toyo T1s. I would recommend the S03's and Toyo T1s tires over the Pilot Sports. They are cheaper, quieter, grip better, and last a little longer.

What are your impressions of the P Zeros?

Costco will have their bi-annual tire sale next week featuring Michelins and Bridgestones.

I have been eyeing the Bridgestone Potenza RE730 - for longer wear and cost.

Here's my impression of the "P Zero's;
This is a picture of the right rear tire on my 2001 Porsche 996 Twin Turbo. That tire blew out at 105 mph! The tire tore it's self to shreds. We had just ran up to 170mph and were slowing down.

Wow a blow out at 105....lucky to be alive I'd say, any pictures of your rim?

The Pilot's are great, I've got the S03's now and they have a tendency to flat spot overnight. Pirrelli Rosso's seem to be a factory tire these days from MBZ, but I'd still go with the Michelin's.

RJC,
Lucky I believe so. The 996 TT is all wheel drive, that may have helped. The road was straight and no on coming traffic. The rim was undamaged, except for the tire monkeys that scratched it while trying to remove it.
I haven't noticed any flat spots with any of my MPS.

....................I have used the michelin pilot sport tires as well as the Toyo T-S. I definitely think that the Toyo's grip better, but they are definitely more noisy and offer a rougher ride. I still like the Toyo's but I do not think that they are quiet or smoother than the Michelin.

I had the Pilot Sports, now have the Bridgestone SO-3's.

Pilot Sports were very noisy, and horrible in the rain.

SO-3's much more quieter, tires look AWESOME, and I feel like I have better handling.

I had the SO-3's sitting at the shop for a few days before I brought the car in, and like every other customer was checking them out.
