ready for upgrade on exhaust

my catalatic converter is making noise and the car's got no warrenty so i'm thinking about doing the exhaust. cost is an issue so what do you think about flowmaster cats and muffler? if so what model cat is good for the 430? is there a muffler that has two input from the cat and one out to keep the stock look but put out a rumble?
has anyone tried the kleeman headers, it seems cory was selling them for 1200 bucks. you think thats worth while to do for gains?

thanks guys

Your first issue will be the cats...what are they doing (rattles, CEL errors??). The reason I ask is that you might want to check some of the covers on the exhaust that were only spot welded. They might have broken and will cause a really bad rattle at take off that sounds like broken Cats. If they are broken the do a search as there are many Manufacturers to buy better flowing cats instead of buying from the dealership. He**, you might even want to delete the secondary cats as some of the guys on this forum have done.

Exhaust: I am very partial to the Eisenmann Sport because thats what I had on my car before but....I have heard the Magnaflow's that some guys here have installed and for the money that is the way to go!! I will end up going this route as well later.

Headers: Ghostrider (I Think) had manufactured a set of REALLY nice headers for our 430's that were way cheaper than the Kleemans and made some nice gains. You might want to check those out as well.

I gotta head out now but I hope this helped!

Problem with the headers is emissions. The Kleeman kit deletes the primary cats. You wont pass smog without them.

the right side cat is shot from inside.
dont really care about smog much here but i did want the two secondary cats on the car after headers. need to keep some low end and i like the tree's in my neighborhood are nice and plush! it seems a lot of guys are going magnaflow now which seems like a good savings but which model would i use for secondary cat replacement. should i carry two pipes to the muffler (e.g. 2 x 2 1/2" ) or use the stock pipe and keep things simple.

thanks bro

I've got a set of Kleemann headers and 200 cel Metal'cat brand cats on my E430. I felt pretty decent gains with this setup but the price was a bit high (Kleemann has recently been aggressively lowering prices though) and they also require cutting and welding. AMS has a line of shorty log style headers and I have been kinda skeptical that they would make good power but there was a post on the AMG CLK page today showing pretty impressive gains. They are also bolt on with no cutting.

ghost rider whats up,
i like yours stats man and i'm still thinking of your headers. actually i'm just waiting on a buddy thats gonna be putting it in to tell me if he can do it or not. like the fact that its a bolt on so i dont have to take it to a shop for 6 hours $$$.
i got a cat back exhaust today since i couldnt take that rattle noise anymore but i think the car revs a little slower! might be just me but the guy used a
2 1/4" pipe. i measured the stock muffler is a 2 1/2" .
the magnaflow exhaust looks great and has a 2 1/2" in so he needed to use
2 1/4" to slip in and weld. now i'm thinking buddy should have used a 2 3/4" and wrapped on top!
what do you guys think should i haggle this kid tomorrow or wait and see if the sensors make an adjustment later?
btw, the magnaflow sounds loud man. sweet tone but i wish the sound wasnt there under 3 rpm. if i had a blower or 55 to back it up then...hey!

Good times!!! Yeah, he really should have used a 2 3/4" pipe. The new pipe is now chocking your exhaust down and defeats the purpose of that new muffler.

finaly got my exhaust set up. sounds and performs great. the guy's shop max's out at 2 1/2" pipe so he mandreled it so there wouldnt be any kinks. the car runs fast now.... so does the gas gauge.
i think it put on about 7hp,
i'm gonna install the amg air box i picked up recently.. maybe another 7.
i'm gonna wash my car so thats like 10hp to the wheels,
and i think the clear marker signals should boost another 2hp or so!...
what do you think?

I know washing my car always makes it feel faster!!! And go with the smoked markers, they are good for at least 4hp...
