CLK55 Rear-end/Trans Slippage?

I've been noticing that when I first start my car in the morning and put it in drive and once I give a bit of gas it feels like the rear-end slips a bit before the car moves but Im talking like a split second. After I drive the car for about half a mile the problem goes away. Has anyone experienced this? I took a look underneath the car and I really did not see any wet spots like a leak or something. Any ideas?

Mine kind of does this too. ONLY when I start the car and IMMEDIATELY put it in drive. I repeat ONLY if I IMMEDIATELY put it in drive. Try letting the car warm up for a full minute before shifting into any gear. I get my tranny serviced every 15k and do not worry about it when it happened to me those few times. If it is happening to you even AFTER warm up; Get it serviced. Fluid change and filter ($80 approx) @ indy trans shop.

Thanks I'll give them a call and see what they say. Do they simply drain the tranny, replace the filter and refill the fluid or is there more involved? I know a buddy of mine bought a tool that is supposed to drain the fluid out, I know that he did it sometime last year but cant remember how it worked. I know the tranny is sealed but I guess he bought the tool for it. I think I'll give out from him as well.

Thanks

There is just one more step involved. The bell housing also has a bolt that has to be removed in order to get the majority of the OLD fluid out. After it has been drained then you can replace the bolt and refill the fluid. If they forget this part then the refill is just mixing old and new fluid together all over again.

Ohhh..didnt know that. Sorry about the bad info then. So how do they make sure all the fluid is out of there then???

I have a 2000 so it doesnt matter to me but it would be good info for those with 02 and above.

There are more detailed posts, but basically after the pan drop and filter change, add 3.5 ltrs and drive for a few days. Then disconnect the upper trans cooler line, run hose to catch basin, start car for few seconds to pump out one liter and replace, do this for 12 ltrs and wahlah!! connect everything back up and you are good to go.. Takes time more than anything else.

Marcus... I've been trying to get a hold of Mr. MB Motors but it goes straight to voice mail just the regular machine voice and it does not say anything about reaching Mr. MB Motors. Do you think this place closed down? I tried Saturday, Sunday and today (Monday). I'll give another try tomorrow.

I also tried calling Valencia MB dealer the girl at the service desk said it would cost $450.00 to flush the tranny and refill. I think she tried to RAPE me

That's the correct number. I don't think you'll get anyone on the weekend. You may want to drive by.

As for the MB of Valencia, I never ask the receptionist anything. I call, ask to speak to Ismael Castro (a service writer) and book it through him. If he's unavailable, I book an appointment with Ish as the service writer. $450 is about 50% higher than what I pay.

So it turned out my tranny was low on fluid by 1/2 quart but the odd thing is there are no wet spots. Although it takes 9 quarts of fluid, the guy told me 1/2 quart is huge for these cars. I've been driving it for 3 days now and problem solved! Im still going to have it flushed and refilled just to be safe. I also finally found a stealer-ship that will do it for $250.00, European Motors in Van Nuys, CA. in case someone is in the area as well.

No converter flush included, but most indy tranny shops can do pan, filter, fluid refresh for like $80 fyi.
