Help on Insurance
After 5 hours of gameplay, I came back to see my car up on jacks or whatever they're called. All rims gone, and somehow in the process scratched my bumper.... dam I'm pissed.
Called the cops, filed a report, managed to get my car back home undamaged (hopefully). Now, back to riding on stock 17s for a while.
Question is: Since my insurance won't cover my aftermarket wheels, should I bother reporting this to them as my rates will probably increase? Any way of getting them insured against theft?

The scratch is very minor, something you can cover up with touch-up paint.
I never activated my Tele-Aid so without my personal info, they couldn't contact me. No wheel locks were on.
Although, riding on 19s @ stock height wasn't very that nice either.
Guys, with the wheels locks for 19's, do you know where you can get them? DOn't you have to buy special "torque wrench" for them?
Thank you
Damn.... sorry to hear that man. With my insurance, they still cover my aftermarket parts. Maybe you should call your insurance agent and try to make them get new wheels for you. Good luck.

Anyways, how worthy are those wheel locks. I know its better than nothing, just wondering how well they work towards theft prevention.
Police report is all I filed. I'm not gonna file one with the insurance. Its only going to make them flag my account as high risk or whatever. And I still can't find anyone to insure aftermarket wheels. They even barely cover aftermarket ICE systems. Unless you were involved in an accident.

I'm curious...what is your insurance company? Mine is AAA and they would cover any aftermarket parts that are on the car as long as I have pics of them on the car and receipts. I specifically asked my agent about wheels and he said yes, they would be covered as long as I have pics and receipts.
As for the wheel locks, JamE55 is right, they're almost hard to take off with wheel locks on. The best case that could happen for the robbers is to have 4 bolts removed but the 5th one would be the lock, hence they would leave with nothing...
UNLESS, if they get irritated and break into the car. ;-)

You made me curious now that your insurance covers that aftermarket stuff. Think i'm gonna call mine and ask them to see if they can cover mine.
Thanks!
I better call and double check.
bmac002- I'm always lurking around ebay, so i'll definitely keep my eyes open for MY WHEELS.

Arnee- I have AAA too, and I'm just happy they haven't cancelled my policy due to my less than perfect driving record (2 accidents in 1 yr, of which 1 of them i totalled the car, injuries in both cases = $5K annual insurance premium). It was my belief that they don't cover theft on those aftermarket goods (rims = 0 coverage, ICE = limited coverage up to $2K?). I know it would be covered if you got into an accident and they were damaged.

I should clarify, I use CSAA, the NorCal sister of AAA. I use those two interchangeably. Maybe their policies are different up there than down here in SoCal...but I guess it doesn't hurt to ask AAA (not CSAA).

$5k annual premium!
The worst part is I was planning on getting the car lowered next week. Now, its gonna look weird lowered on 17s.
