Cool some questions on cold air intakes.

Hey guys, Im new to the forums(as you can see) and I have some questions about installing an aftermarket cold air intake. What parts would you need? when it is installed will there be any issues with the MAss air unit(is that right?). Im not to experenced with working on cars or installing performance parts but I am motivated to learn. Any links with pics and prices would be great. maybe places where I could buy the parts. thanks in advance.

I used the search and read up on alot of the posts and it was helpful but it didn't help with all my confusion.

thanks in advance guys

Several people got their intakes from the guy a few months back and everyone loves the results so get it while it lasts.

99CLK320,
I have one of these intakes and it has definitely improved the performance of my 320. I installed it myself and it was easy. put it on but don't tighten it all down until you get all the parts adusted so that MAF is in the right place.

More bends do not necessarly mean more power, there is the pipe sizing and the filter that is used and also the location and postion of filter. making an straight sytem is much easier than my system but you have to keep in mind that mercedes owners like to keep the clean and elegant engine look by keeping their engine covers and not exposing their engines and everything thats in there and my systems allow you to do just that while getting a drastic increase in air flow suction and more power and not just sticking a generic pipe in the engine bay. and i have plenty of members that have purchased the systems and have testimonials about it. so i would appreciate it if you don't jump to conclusions about a system that you have no experince with. but I guess we'll let the pictures and the member testemonial's do all the talking.

I agree with you a straight pipe does lower flow restrictions along with labor and cost but it also does lower the visual quality. and thats why it took me so long to make this system to make sure it's the most power and the best looks because we dont drag these cars mainly they are for street use and i want to keep the elegant look and also you have to remember i developed this system for my own car and since i'm the consumer myself i demand nothing but top quality (visual and mechanical) and the most power. I owned the renntech box, V6 c320 air box and also the custom fited amg 55 box and i was unhappy with all of them and thats why i developed this system. the reason why i never bothered with dyno sheets is because when it comes to a cold air intake system the dyno could be easily munipilated to show higher numbers by leaving the filter out, gutting out the filter, changing the position of the piping and so on so i just let the members that purchased them do the talking. I dont trust company numbers and claims as they are always over inflated i trust what i feel and the experience of the people that have purchased them from me. But again this is not to say AB system is a bad system i wont make any assumptions about it i just don't like when others make random assumptions about mine.

I completly agree with that, if i want a setup that is all for power i would go back to my original Y pipe dual filter setup that runs to the back of the front grille but unfortunatly it won't let you keep the engine cover and you have to do some modifications to install it and i tell you this with that setup i had very good results but it's just not practicall unless if i was at the track every day.

99CLK320,
intake

I have vipclk's intake on my 320. It looks good and, my car performs great. I can't believe that the black system, although straighter, would make a significant difference in performance. Let's see the dyno figures buffy.

"i will say this your set up is looking more stock" you are kidding, right?

I concur

I have the vipclk's intake on my 320 as well. By going with abracing or renntec, I doubt very seriously that there would be enough gains to make any real difference on a CLK320.

Several people have vipclks intake system and everyone says the same thing... Like Toni the Tiger... Itttssss GreaTTT!!!

Throw Back

Remember your greatest gains will come as a combination of everything that you do i.e. Full Exhaust System, Headers, Intake, ECU Tune etc...
