I got about the same
on OEM Pilot Sports. Seems like that's pretty good compared to other brands and driving style. The negative camber on this type of car eats tires. You need to be very careful on tire pressure. I keep mine at 38 front - 35 rear.

Does the stock CLK 430 have negative camber on the back tires?

I thought front tires wear out faster than the rear tires?

It all depends on how you drive. The harder you turn, the more you will wear your front (corners) faster. My stock front tires lasted about 8,000 miles.

I do a lot of full throttle acceleration from stop, i guess that¡¦s why my rear wears out so much quicker,

BTW, what is the recommended tires pressures for a stock wheel/tire setup ?? the 32/33 suggested by MB seem a little too soft ......

fubar , u posted front 38, rear 35, is there a reason you set the tire pressure that way ??

Because at the recommended pressure the tires wear unevenly. Check the archives, lotsa info and other's experience there.

I got 10,000 on the originals and 10,000 on Potenza S-03s. I get 40,000 on my Ford. Considering the cost and mileage differences, my CLK costs 12 times as much mile for mile in rubber. (But worth every dime.

When I use to race motocross, we raced to one side one week and the other side the other week. It was less boring going towards the same side all the time.....

My OEM Pilot SXs lasted ~ 8500 miles. No drag racing, burnouts etc. Just hard driving. I currently have Yoko AVS sports with ~ 4,000 miles and they're roughly halfway to the wear indicators. I check pressure religiously and run 38F 35R. The higher pressure in front has mitigated the accelerated edgewear problems I've encountered.

The stock 17" Michelin SX tires were replaced after 4000 miles because they were wearing unevenly (crap from the factory). In fact, MB gave me a set of brand new SX tires which I traded for 18" Pilot sports. I have 14,000 miles on them and they are wearing (50%) perfectly. Granted, this car is mostly driven by my wife but my E55 got 25,000 miles on a set of Pilots and I drive the car to the limit most of the time.

I want to get SO3, but for 19inch they dont have 235/35/19 and 265/30/19, they do have 245/35/19 and 275/35/19, but I dont think they will fit my car..

theine: what do you mean by
"we raced to one side one week and the other side the other week". Do you mean like switching the right and left tires?

Pfellan: with the directional tires, can you tell me the advantages and disadvantages?
Don't you think you need swaybars or your car? it seems to me that your car has still some body rolls (picture on the track).
:-)

thanks,

Solihin
