Approaching 60K mile mark...service needs?

Hey everyone,

Does anybody know what is involved in a 60K mile service? Do I need to change the Tranny Fluid or any belts?

Thanks.

I have a 99 CLK 430. Somebody mentioned all I need is a Service B at 60K miles. I would have thought we would need to have our timing belts and what not changed, but then again, this whole Flexible Service crap confuses the hell out of me...10K mile oil changes and what not....haha. Thanks guys.

depends on how hard you drive your car.... i like to push my car once in a while, and my pully kit fell off while i was driving. the belt was torn up and the engine smelled like crap. i got a new belt put on and a pully and it feels like the car got a little slow but i knew i had to break my car in. i pushed my car a few times and it back to normal.

well i guess under normal driving conditions, at what point are we supposed to change our belts (or chain) and tranny fluid? I heard that the timing belt (chain) is supposed to last 100k miles....is this some more of that 12K miles between oil change mumbo-jumbo that MB says to sound good, but in reality not the best thing for your car, or is it true? the service manual seems to indicate that only a service B is necessary at 60k miles...is this correct? sorry if these are stupid questions. please forgive my ignorance. thanks everyone.

Check your manual.

theine....i did check the manual...that's my point. is it reliable? i mean this is from the same people who tell us we don't need to get an oil change until 12k miles. thanks

Forget about the FSS, preventive maintenace is the trick to keep your car in optimum condition.
At 60,000 miles if you haven't done it, I would do:

1- Transmission service
2- Filters
3- Belts
4- Flush radiator and change hoses.
5- Spark plugs.
6- Oil and filter, Mobil 1 of course.
7- Check suspension.
8- Check brakes.
9- Check exhaust.
10- Check tires

What kind of pulley kit? Let us know who made those so that we can stay away from it.
