Rust Problems (paint bubbling) wtf
any 1 has or had this sh it? i got 2-3 places on my car the worst 1 is on trunk see picture. also under side mirror.....CLEAR factory defect !!!
corrision warranty .............??? plz advice

I finally had a chance to look through the warranty book that came with my 2001 CLK320 Cabriolet.
All I could find was that paint/rust/corrosion is not even covered by the initial 48 month-50,000 mile limited warranty.
The basic verbiage was that paint and/or body defects are due to use and deterioration and to carefully inspect the car for any defects upon delivery as they are not covered in the 48 month/50,000 mile limited warranty. If any defects are found, they should immediately be called to the attention of the dealer.
I'm sure that other automobile manufacturers specifically cover rust/corrision for at least 10 years (maybe more).
I friend of mine, who owns a BMW had some rust bubbling on the front edge of the hood quite a bit outside of the 48/50,000 limited warranty.
She went to her dealer and they had a regional representative take a look at it and made the repair at no cost.
FWIW.....she was considering buying a new BMW and they specifically told her not mention that to the factory representative. I believe it had to do with BMW is very concerned about owner satisfaction (no so much about previously owned BMWs.
Before the CLK, I owned a BMW and found the both the factory and dealer interest in providing high customer satisfaction to be head and shoulders above MBs.
